  1. Its about 5ft on the outside so no I don't think it would unless it would just fit in diagonally but then nothing else would. If I hear of a bigger one going I will let you know.
  2. I did do before it got left thanks. It was a trug full taken from two years worth of splinters from under the splitter which have been drying in a poly tunnel. Burnt a treat.
  3. Its a thought. The mrs would like carpets and curtains if it gets too posh though
  4. Got these two monsters installed today which, hopefully, will stop all but the most determined getting at the saws and power tools.
  5. Today we got this lovely old stove installed, fired up and a producing a brew in the lambing shelter. It knocks out some serious heat so life should be a bit more comfortable next winter.
  6. Progress report (I haven't forgotten)... I now have a plug on the binding machine. It might be some time before I can at it again for a play but I will let you know if it works.

  8. My tractors jump from Kubotas and 135's to the MB Trac so my thinking was that the TR70 would be better suited to small tractors tootling up and down the coppice taking out anything that it could cope with and making conventional logs out of anything too big. I do have a feeling though that a bag with 4" logs in (TR110) might be seen as a more saleable and so extraction and then a big day out with the MB might be better. Decisions, decisions. More sleep going to be lost I can tell.
  9. As above our council just about accepts a container is a portable structure but expects it to move every 12 months. But ANY services connected and it needs planning.
  10. Loosing sleep over this TR70 now... sad but true. I really fancy having a go at one of these and made inquiries at which shows one might be on display. The 'shows' link on the Welmac website is down and an email didn't get anything useful in response so apologies for bumping this thread again. My biggest reservation from the vidoes is that the TR70 looks a bit 'tinny'; slightly underengineered for the pounding it must get. From those who have seen one in the flesh is this unfounded? Has anyone got one in Lancashire that I could have a look at? How was Welmac UK to deal with? Discount off list that should be expected? Backup service? etc Are there any alternative machines that should be considered alongside this? Ta.

  15. My thoughts exactly. Well done!
  16. Split them into 1m lengths then they can go across a saw bench or through a processor
  17. Rather than join in with the sarcastic, I am sure many many forum members would be genuinely interested in why you believe that firewood would be cheap or even free. Its an honest question. Is it something the stove salesman said?

Our other 135 isn't half as glamorous. We have been through it mechanically but left the bodywork original. It has a forklift on the back and is a real workhorse. It was the first tractor the family ever bought new (we had a second hand grey fergie before) so I can't part with it.
  20. It uses that polyethylene (?) tape/webbing that you get around heavy boxes. It supposedly can have the tension adjusted quite a lot so hopefully it will pull a bundle tight and then heat weld itself. And then again maybe it wont! Electrician is meant to be plumbing it in next week so we will see.
  21. Hard to believe anyone would do this
  22. Just bought a big industrial binding machine (£12k new ~ £350 ebay) to play with to do just that. The tension is adjustable so I wanted to see if it was practical to bale a brash / willow coppice for use in smaller boilers. Will let you know if it works or will be trying to offload a cheap binding machine if it doesn't.

I have two 135s so am perhaps a bit over sensitive to some of the sentiments expressed. I fully accept that you will get much more for your money on something else but that is the whole point? 135 = Rock solid reliability, cheap to service and, most importantly, you are very likely to get more back than you paid for it. I really can't see the problem with this? If it won't run to a 135 then I would suggest a DB996 as these are quickly becoming collectible for similar reasons. But if you are going to flog it into the ground the a zetor / leyland etc will do just fine Here is our posh one (Originally a MF135 Industrial rescued from a cow shed in deepest wales) when it had just been restored.
