  1. Well at least i'm not the only one who feels this way. I'll sleep well this tonight, not because of this thread proberly because of the bottle of red wine me and the misses are drinking. LOL:001_tongue: Thanks again for the great feed back, nice one guy's
  2. It seems to me that people can carry on getting away with bad practice untill the s-it hits the fan, then and only then will people start asking questions, and by then its too late. someone is dead or badly injured.
  3. thanks for your feed back guys, i know there is nothing i can do, just needed to have a moan.
  4. Hi guy's and girls, need to get this off my chest As the thread says, how do other companys get away with it. There are a few companys in my area, that dont opperate to the rules, i.e. groundies not having C/S38, no waste carries licence and so on and so on. I pride myself and my company on me and my guys having the correct qualls, following the H&S guidlines, making sure all the ticks are in the right box, leaving no stone unturned, making sure risk assessments are written up and followed. ect. Why is thre no sort of governing body that makes sure that all these things are in place before a company can start carrying out tree work and also carries out spot checks to see that they still are working to a good standard. As you all know all these things cost money, and it p--ses me off seeing companys cutting corners just to make a quick book, with un quallified staff and a casual approach to the industry. Is there anything we can do ? Sorry if sound like im ranting and raving:angry:

  12. There's so much hype about wood and its quallities, i find everything burns if you split it quick and store it, ill sell anything, as long as i tell the client what it is and how wet or dry it might be, they seem happy. Not had any complaints anyway:blushing: My only advice stay away from poplar as it's like a sponge, and stays like it for years.
  13. Me too, i'll try in on monday, two x Lime trees to reduce and crown lift. Bring it on:lol:
  14. Hi Mate i'm an ex Royal Marine PTI did 14 years and had had enough of the bull s**t. I Also went to Kingswood, great place, very good training, and lots of chance to do days work exp, while their.. Been out 3 years and jumped in at the deep end and opened my own business. I wouldn't recomend it to everyone, however it seems to have worked out for me. My advice is allways keep learning, there is so much to learn in this industry even when you think your at the top of your game, there's always another ticket to get or course to go on. Think long and hard before taking the plunge. Wish you all the best

  23. Hi guys and girls, Has any one tried this as advertising its called business reply by the Royal Mail. Would like to know if its worth while doing, and is it expensive.?
  24. stu, its all gon a bit mad, with have a go tree surgeons popping up all over, under quoting everyone. my foot is firmly down my day rate is my day rate, if people can do the job for less in a safe mannor, are insured and follow all H&S regs then fine, crack on. As i keep saying to people im a business not a charity:sneaky2:
  25. On my way to get rid of my first load of chip, i saw a young lad up a tree on a set of ladders with some 30 stone bloke holding them for him. Nothin wrong with that i hear you say. Wrong answer, as he was inches away from some major power lines. i then saw him more or less reach in between them, When leaving i wanted to be a bit nosey, and drove past to see if i knew them. No sign writing on the truck, little PPE, no chipper, and an old battered Husky. What do these people think they are playing at? People like this give us good tree surgens a bad name, I't becoming a bloody joke. Only wish i had my camera
