  1. Your right, its fairly addictive! - Interesting to hear the change as they swoop in to eat!! It was nice to hear the policy of leaving standing deadwood where safe(ish!)
  2. Anytime mate, the place was amazing around 8pm last night. Let me know when you want to do it and we'll hook up.
  3. Been quoted a ridiculous price to ship wheel bearings from the USA, they are not a regular size and I cant find anywhere in the uk that stocks them, can anyone help?
  4. David, It went down well with the staff and was a cracking evening for it! Paul, Its well worth a visit, I had forgotten how interesting the place is. I'll be going again soon with a decent camera to get some better shots...I think a few of the guys are planning a secret rec climb too!
  5. Couldnt help but pull over and get a picture of this field in Worcester yesterday...
  6. Ecology walk with Murray Hayden at Coombe Abbey. They have 500 acres of country park and one of thier key objectives is not only to protect and enhance this fragile environment but also to help raise awareness of the countryside & conservation. I arranged for some of our guys to meet up last night and have an informative stroll around the grounds helping to identify bat presence, the use of bat detactors etc..(along with tree identification competitions as we walked!) This was followed by a chat about what we had learnt - At the local pub, we just made last orders!!
  7. Taphrina Sp. includes Peach leaf curl. Change you burger to a Burger King burger!
  8. Looks like it could be Taphrina Sp.
  9. Suitable for retention...?!!! Inspected this tree today for some architects to see if they should consider retention as part of a set of plans (5837 to follow) doing it back to front as usual but at least they are asking for advice prior to doing the drawings!!
  10. I Think Theocus is selling one but not sure if its a crew cab, may be worth a PM
  11. As your both members on here, surely it would be better to sort it behind closed doors/over a beer. Its probably not a good idea to be asking peoples opinions and blowing it out of proportion when people dont know the full situation.
  12. What are your thoughts on this, Monkeyd any comments....? Art critic Brian Sewell buries the hatchet in the back of arb profession | Horticulture Week Daily | Horticulture Week
  13. You have some decent kit there, be a shame to let it go probably for a snip of its brought price when it coulod be a source of income during Uni
  14. Thats the plan Tony, its a much bigger picture than that as you well know I have found there is a distinct lack of resources out there that cover a basic understanding of "arbor ecology" that are also priced reasonably, this puts a lot of companies off this kind of awareness course, it can be costly on top of the mandatory NPTC, 1st aid, Chapter 8 etc, etc.. The people I initially approached to run the bat course wanted £2000+ for 10 candidates! (Not mentioning any names!)
  15. I think this is becoming more and more topical and Arborists/woodland owners are becoming more concious or wildlife and there surroundings. I have arranged for our guys to undertake a bat awareness course as a starter but the knowledge required is endless! Is there a basic bird ID and habitat course on birds?, maybe this is something the RSPB/AA could put together for specifically for people like us?
  16. The engineer that does our servicing put them on, not sure on final cost with fitting I'll let you know when the bill comes!
  17. The decision was made when we found the nest, we didnt give the client chance to decide! - Besides we all love Tits
  18. The lower crown should have been thinned less I think Liam
  19. I was sick of everytime I looked at or followed a machine one bulb was out - guaranteed!! The landy is now sound got it back on Tuesday, got the guy to service it while it was in new brakes etc, havent had the bill yet though
  20. I have just had LED lights fitted to my chippers, they are 12+24v so can go onto all vehicles without blowing the bulbs
  21. Tree should have been felled and gone, job completed but a couple of Tits put a stop to that! The customer is now left with a monster trunk left standing in the corner of the garden!
  22. About 10ft below the bottom of the picture Havent got a home for it yet, going to see what its like when its down - which should be later today.
  23. You could have Fat Slags Rule on your T shirt with Tracy from the Viz on it
