  1. Yes mate he walks round the yard like a cock pheasant now!!
  2. Doing really well, great on the Hobbs now after 2 days on it. Has passed his CS up to felling certs and is booked on 38/39 end of June. He's been thinning street tree limes with a silky for a few weeks so climbing is coming on too!
  3. A few more from today, brash is off so just timber to bring down and fell the trunk.
  4. Thanks for the offer Ady but I'm not sure I want it stinking of fish guts
  5. Why didnt you claim on the insurance - normally only £50 excess and you dont lose your no claims?
  6. If your not happy with the sitaution for any reason thats the point you speak up, sometimes other may think it too but are fearfull to bring it up, other times it may have gone unnoticed and you may highlight something that saves a life and become a hero! Its not a case of walking as soon as something isnt right, if it can't be put right by a team leader then the manager/employer needs to be involved and issues resolved either by training/mentoring or new equipment in order to make the job safer. If neither are willing to listen - THEN I would suggest its time to walk!
  7. Could have done with your knowledgable eye there mate, there were some great shots for the taking - I just dont have a clue! I can definatly recommend the Hobbs, great all round device.
  8. Here, here Andy! We have just put a policy in place that gives any person on a team the power to stop works on site if they feel anything is unsafe or they are unhappy about a task they are asked to perform, without prejudice. I can remember situations working for companies in the past where I have been on a job and the climber has been inexperienced and asked to perform a task they are not competant in by the boss. Lukily I have not witnessed any major accidents but there is too much of a "get up there and knock it off lad!" attitude in this industry.
  9. Its currently found a home in the back of the landy double cab! Not many fishing boats in the Midlands to get fish crates from!
  10. Loving the tractor work Steve saves the farmers
  11. Quality camera work Bart.
  12. Slightly different...Its not going to take 10 days and I'm not going to log it all up on site - No offence Rupert
  13. I really like it, we have been contemplating over the different devices on the market for a while. For what we need I think the right decision was made.
  14. The stem will come down in one into the woodland behind, but access is poor, going to take the telehandler to get the timber out but not sure how big the lumps will be that it lifts out though! Then the HIAB!!!!
  15. Last couple, more to come tomorrow...
  16. Completing the RA mate, your mistaking him with Tom!!
  17. We started the sectional felling of a Beech in a domestic garden, this was the first days use of our own Hobbs device so we had a play with different techniques etc. The tricky part over the proerties and garden has been completed today. Access is tight through a wooded area at the rear of the property.
  18. I read an article on this on the BBC website website. BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Take cover by saving urban trees
  19. Loving the sheep shot David, do you think a clever one walked over and stood there and the rest followed not knowing why?!
  20. Here's a tree acting like a giant parasol on a hot day, what would we do without them!
  21. We used to slide ours down the ramp of a plant trailer, you can just about manouvre it on your own. I have a hiab now and wish I'd brought one years ago, so if your planning on doing any quantity then invest in one before you do your back in!
  22. There, I think I've sorted it for you - much better
  23. Staggered up that hill a bit worse for wear a few times mate, although I took much better pictures - that ones pants!
