  1. Husky King We used to have a hilux . The way we used to get the chip off the back was to get a measured piece of 1/2 inch ply and cut two holes in it either side then tie some rope to the holes . Place the board at the back of the head board fill with chip then tie the rope attached to the board to a tree drop tail board then pull forward . hope this makes sense .
  2. Yeah some trees are a joy to climb and seem to have loads of anchor points and foot holds . Then you have the trees that are out to get you . I always treat every tree with respect 12 ft / 70 ft . Swear down some trees just dont want you there . Must be age or may be i,m just paranoid .
  3. Mesterh (Top Banana ) first pic is by far the best .
  4. Hi all we clocked a white van man taking off his Tarmac signs ( Magnetic ) and changing to Tree services lol . Madness .
  5. Thank you all for your input . As it turns out MOT tester meant ( Ball pivot joints ) which are located above and below the axle case . thanks again to all who helped . No Ive never driven the 3 litre version . I think the 2.8 at the moment is ample powerful for towing the ifor . mind you i have thought about a K&N air filter .
  6. If Im correct it was only a few years ago that wagons transporting sawdust were made to use contained units . Make of this what you will . When we are chipping dead limbs we use the dust masks. Mind you after many years on a saw I think whats done is done . I did have a severe Lung infection some years ago and the doctor ask of my employment. When I told him Tree work he just rolled his eyes and said this was a major contributing factor .
  7. Model ( S reg 2.8tdi gr se , lwb ) hope this will help .
  8. Mr Ed your a star much obliged .
  9. Hi there people I was wandering if anyone has now or at some point owned or worked on the Nissan Patrol 1998 / 99 . The vechicle has just failed the dreaded MOT . The problem is that it failed on excessive play in the nearside upper suspension ball joint and the offside lower ball joint .I thought this would be the same layout as my landy but it is not . Please can someone enlighten me on this matter as I cannot find the said ball joints on the Patrol . Hope this finds all fellow arborists in good health .
  10. well you should get a lovely velour cushion to sit on , its transformed my landy seat . And youll need some duck tape . ( Blue Peter ) forever .
  11. I was told many moons ago that if possible unhitch the chipper before chipping as the vibration can lead to bearing damage on the chip truck . Just what someone told me , dont know if its true or not .
  12. Sounds like he wants you to work on a tree with a TPO on it . Saturday no Council Office open crafty blighter. Did he withhold his number ?
  13. Evening Mr Bullman The fuel costs are really frugal ( cool word ) . When its full its like a boat all over the place . Parts are cheap and theres spares almost everywhere you look .Would be cool to have a warm comfortable work truck in my old age .
  14. 110 Tipper Landy with chip box . Fitted with Husky Winch and Brownchurch roof rack . Not the most comfortable vehicle but it earns the money. Has an in house service every 3 months . We are now considering Transit crewcab or maybe be a Hilux / l200 4x4 I think its a man thing

  16. Ive had the Nubuck leather short brown Haix boots they lasted me about 2years . Then I got the Haix blue ridge they lasted 6 months . Anybody know of any comfortable boots that will last . Cheers , Climbing / Grounding
  17. Ive been on the trees for 17 years and seen many a T O come and go . Sometimes they really stress me out . I love my job but Its tough trying to find the balance of what you think the tree requires and what the T O wants. It does however really annoy me when T O gets confused between tree species . Anyway Ive just learnt to chill out at the grand old age of 37 couple of shots of rum and a rub down with Voltarol good to go .
  18. I converted my hi cap to a tipper using a tipping back off a scrapped Tata pick up perfect size . Box section frame with ply sides and to finish it off a purpose made tarp orange and green to match the TW . I would post pics but me and technology just dont mix.

  21. 020t in a tree is king . After having said that i find the husky ticks over a lot better , and now ive fitted a 10inch bar its a different saw . i always seem to have carb problems with my 020s. But id rather the job take a bit longer and use a saw that ticks over properly .
  22. Cool Old Timer , hope I,m still spitting chips at his age .
  23. catch 22 situation , If customer will not let me do that sympathetic prune or slight reduction or whatever we advise .We go back and do as customer wishes, But in my mates unsign written disco and ifor trailer .
