  1. All this talk of big saws made me think about getting the 088 out:001_tt2: .Anyway I did just that with a new chain . 10 mins into cutting I hit an old large nail and fooked the chain right off the bar .Mind you it was over the top as the 64 did the job now its running better . Thanks again to fellow Arbtalker Mistahben for making the job run that bit sweeter . Boy does that dude sweat:001_tt2:Last pic is the of the bark spooky face Sorry I am always forget to rotate pics.
  2. I have been told the skylotec are good . The one with the hard leg loops . Worse thing you can do is nothing . You got to keep moving or you seize up . Best o luck .
  3. I Have a huge amount of respect for the way this young man dealt with this situation . Keeping his cool in the heat of the moment is very admirable . Tip my hat to you fella .
  4. Thats awesome . Tidy job
  5. We have a small spider in the Landy .
  6. I,m afraid its true 090 is a mans saw . Its an animal . Will shake you to your bones though .
  7. Your right but I always seem to work like a dog . Punishment from my past life no doubt .
  8. My first thought was £ 580 . Am I cheap . If Ive had a hard day and then go pricing jobs . I always seem to be more expensive than pricing after a normal day .
  9. Yeah but its one hell of a sexy saw and is always good in a photo . Probably a tad over the top though .
  10. There is an old guy round these parts that does a similar thing on a small scale . He has an old cottage with plenty of land. Lots of local contractors tip off chip and logs which he sells on . This guy will also burn your crap from the builders sacks if your a regular . But you do get the contractors that only drop off Conifer / Willow and the like . He only does it like I say on a small scale .Ive talked with him at length and he reckons theres a lot of money to be made . Mind you he does charge for burning if your not a regular .
  11. I have got a rather large pine coming down soon . I think I will get some extra help on ground and take a nice steady approach . It will either help or hinder my aches . Anyway its a gamble , well I will just see how it goes .
  12. £1500 / £ 1700 It will be 2 hard days if not 3 . The thought of raking up all that sawdust is making me feel ill . Like the guys say big big tarp .You want to make a good impression take your time and more work will follow . All the best . I love my 088 , 48 inch bar . This job commands decent money if you intend to buy or use an 088 . I always put the price of a new chain on a decent fell .
  13. Cheers I will try some of those tips out . Could do with a losing a few pounds .
  14. I really do try to take to much work on when I no I am already pressed for time . I have just agreed to work tomorrow removing a H/ C Nut tree. Anyway my new contact from arbtalk is giving me a hand . I am in the process of selling my old saws and replacing and downsizing the amount of saws I have . What new truck are you having and did you get a tracked chipper . I thought about putting one on a tracked powered barrow .
  15. Yeah your right there. Arbtalk medicine isnt prescription its an addiction . Trouble is though when you intend to spend 15 / 20 minutes browsing it nearly always ends up being hours .
  16. Good point Ive just starting saying No I cant fit you in until 3/4 wks .I think that before when I was saying yeah Ill do it at the weekend was just to much . 19. Cheers guys I,m going for a sauna sometime this week and a sports massage . I,ll just keep plodding on until then . Was thinking about going back to a 4 day week . That will leave me sat , sun and monday free . Any younger climbers out there should strive to get in a good working position and use any advances in tree climbing to there advantage . thanks again .
  20. Hi all I have had aches and pains due to the nature of the job for many years . All my working life since leaving school in 1986 has been brutal on my body and is now starting to affect everyday working life . So as many of us just carry on regardless and put off going to the Doctors. As we all know our own bodies better than anyone else . I decided after many threats by the good lady indoors I shall visit the Doc . Anyway turns out that I have Tendinitis / Rotor cuff injury . Advice was to avoid activities that aggravate the problem . Well thats nearly all Tree work . To top it off I may have Calcium deposits . I think it has a lot to do with the long handled hedge work . So even though Im going to up my supplements I think hedge work duties will have to be past on . Trouble is nobody can quite cut the mustard . Hedge works takes practice and a good eye . Think I should be a Bonsai Specialist
  21. I used to contract climb over 10yrs ago for £50 / £70 a day . All I came with was my climbing kit and an 020 and my own mixed fuel. I used to hate using other peoples fuel as Ive seen how some staff just kind of guess the mix ratio . Anyway I thought I was minted. If I have a contract climber in now they get £120 a day and use my fuel .Saves my poorly shoulders back neck the list goes on . If it was a difficult take down Id do it myself but would take longer or pay climber extra dollars .
  22. I you might be right we have not seen them round here for a while . Were they based at Capesthorne Hall at the Siddington Nr Congleton . They used to run the Bandit 90 chippers I think .Very expensive mind you they are a big outfit with big overheads . A guy from Leek used to work for them and told me they needed to make £ 600 a day .
  23. Looks like a nice cool steady job
