  1. How do you tighten it again though? The clutch drum isn't spinning freely, seems to engage some compression. Every cut today needed a restart. Chainbrake off, choke, pull, trigger, rev, cut, chain brake on (or not), high clip saw, cut out. Not what you want on connies.
  2. I always leave the tails long Bill. You can cut them down after the knots have tightened after a bit of use. I always tape them then.
  3. That brings back memories Paul. My old mates kidnapped me once when I was back up from uni to go on an all dayer in Jedburgh when we still had stupid Sunday hours and Scotland didn't. My ex-fiancé wasn't impressed. Probably why she became an ex....
  4. I miss the Husky vs. Stihl days though.
  5. I think we should just nuke them all.
  6. Don't be like that Paul. I'll do it for £1500.
  7. I'm from Northumberland and live in Kent, but I reckon the tree is in Bury, Lancashire.
  8. It doesn't meet EU emission regs Darrin. I couldn't possibly choke the children of the planet with filthy fumes. Now where did I put my stash of Deutschmarks.....
  9. I'm pretty sure he meant the previous contractor mate, that's how I read it. It is shocking. How did you deck it? Winch?
  10. I've found it a cracking saw apart from this problem. It used to be so strong in the cut. The only rear end problems I've seen have been caused by dinosaurs dragging the saw round the tree on the strop instead of high clipping it. Aarrrrrh the 200T. Stihl should have got VW to sort out the emissions thing for them and we'd all still have them.
  11. Thanks mate, I'll have another look at it. The needle bearings may be suspect, I got them off you.... I've had that bloody clutch off so many times I'm really wary about the thread wear on the plug now. It's a pita having to remove it every time.
  12. Americans, as we all know, only ever drive low emission small-engined eco-cars, which makes VWs crimes all the more heinous.
  13. Can you elaborate please Peat? Thinking about it I did adjust the screw for maximum oiling, and that's when the bother started....
  14. Received Eddy, thanks very much.
  15. That's a very kind offer Eddy, thanks. [email protected]
  16. Thanks Stubby. It's not under warranty any more, is this a tricky job? I can do so much, but I'm no sawsmith.
  17. Great news. Don't forget to give a shout out to the wholesaler who supplies Mr. Patels shop though. Was it regular or king size? PM me if you'd rather not reveal this on the open forum.
  18. My favourite saw has gone bad. Had oiling problems which I eventually sorted, but it's been temperamental since. Had the clutch off a few times doing that. Cuts out constantly, doesn't seem to achieve high enough revs even under no load, and doesn't like being started with the chai brake on (on a 200t this was normally worn clutch springs, but these seem fine). Help!
  19. Apparently. You can't tell the difference though. Kerrchhiinnnng for Ford dealers?
  20. I was trying to source a mature Yew a few years back, to replace one some builders had boshed over without permission. The biggest I could find fell well below the requested 40', and was in Germany. It was £13k not including transportation and planting, and came 100% NOT guaranteed to survive. Never found out what happened in the end, solicitors and insurance companies were involved. Surely a small healthy tree is a more fitting tribute than a big knackered one?
