  1. Been there myself.I've twice had to take the jensen off the trailer to pull out the hi-lux.Worked a treat.
  2. Didn't know you could. Is it simple enough?
  3. Yes it's stuck the damper.I can only get the bolt to move up about the width of the nut.Tried slackening the nut till flush with bolt an then hitting with hammer but it i think the thread is catching on the end of the damper.
  4. Just been changing the bellows on a couple of my trailers. The first one went fine but having a problem with the second one.The vertical bolt on the head moves till it hits the thread on the sliding bit inside.Would it be advisable to grind the head of the bolt off, knock it through the other way and then put in a new bolt?Bit scared if i do and it gets stuck!

    Fav Job

Nice job there.I find it a bit of an ordeal too,but you jist have to get on with it.Did an ash a while ago an the bark disolouring was really bad underneath. They look so much better without it.Don't fancy groundies job dealing with it!
  6. :dito:Had some on the hills up here yesterday.
  7. Put it like this stevie anything you do with him that he enjoys(as said before he'll soon tell you if he doesn't enjoy)he will remember for the rest of his life and do the same with his kids.I know i do.Our 2 girls love climbing trees(with rope an harness of course!)and used to come with me in the harvester/forwarder at that age, even pressing the saw button for felling and cross cutting! It's good that you manage to find time to spend with him whilst running your own business,it's difficult for me but then ours are older now and starting to do they're own thing.I do like snorkeling though!
  8. Thanks for all the advice. It's difficult not to get annoyed with the ''jobsworths'' because you're jist trying to get on with the job in hand, but i they are only doing they're job too i guess. What gets me is do they not think we are thinking about each others safety when working in such a way.Yes people can get complacent but at least you can look out for each other when working in a closer proximity SSRA allowing of course!
  9. We get a work glove from dingbro stevie, they are called puggy, they're grey in colour, very light, quite warm and the best bit £1.20 a pair.they last about 5 days in all types of tree work,so when they're gone in the fingers jist chuck them an put on a new pair.Come in packs of 10.We've been using them for about 3 years now.
  10. That's interesting,i'll bear that in mind for future reference.I did politely ask them when were they going to bugger off and let us get on with it!But i know they have a job to do and boxes to tick when they get back to nice warm office.
  11. Big hedge!I would cut it twice as fast if i knew that stove an sausages was on the go at lunchtime mmm!
  12. if one is not felling then there's only one tree coming down at a time I can't see a problem with your method. RThat's what i thought. They did allow us to do it this way with a little persuasion before they went off site.At least you both know what the tree is doing or going to do,rather than if your 2 tree lengths away trying to catch the others attention to tell him there's one coming down when he can't see what your doing.
  13. We were out today to do some edge trees and felling for a badgers sett. There were 3 official bods on site for about 3 hours. We were told that the chainsaw ops(him and me)had to work 2 tree lengths away from each other and we had to be 70metres away from the harvester whilst he was working.During the time they were there the supervisors told us we were to close to each other(chainsaw ops) and i was to close to the harvester.Fair enough on the harvester bit but i argued that was it not safer for the 2 cutters to work side by side.1 fell and other knock in wedges then swap and other fell, wedges etc.So now we have 2 trees on the deck so we can sned both trees out at the same time.I can't see anythin wrong with that way of working,we're both within sight and sound of one another and we can help one another out when needed(jammed saw etc.)Feel free to comment or how does everyone else work?
  14. Tidy job, great level:001_smile:Mmm climbing along the top of a cypress hedge all day,it's a dirty job but someone's got to do it!The best bit about them is finishing:thumbup:
  15. Plenty wood up here to,we've jist cut 100tonne of hardwood and i sold the lot for £32 at roadside.Had that myself twice lately CTS on big jobs,as you say the job might overrun.Theres always somebody going to quote cheaper!
  16. I think he means it's really really dry an the driver can only get 11 tonne on when full as opposed to 25tonne if it was fresh cut,not that he would anyway coz it's still light when fresh cut.Have never heard of 11tonne loads but i remember one dry summer our pulp was goin away in 16tonne loads and lorry was full!
  17. That's an OH S$*T moment if ever there was one!
  18. Good job,at least you saved a bit of time an effort by leaving a monolith. You prob needed a pint or too right enough,i would after 4 days on the same tree.
  19. Not left overs from a job then!3 three years is a bit long for biomass drying eh?Beetle bank on a large scale?!!
  20. Things moving well up here too.Are you sure it wasn't a half load lying about that wasn't worth coming back for.
  21. Silver cross pram, lawn mower oh and musn't forget the barby with gas cylinder!
  22. Cheers stevie,it was interesting.Went back to take out the silver birch too as they felt it was too exposed.Rope had jist come out of the wash timtree, had been doing some grandes the day before, say no more.
