  1. It's usually a hit or a miss. We've just done some tree surgery for an estate in exchange for 50 tonne of really nice dead oak.Same kind of thing your looking at,just removing the dead trees in a thinning. We sell it though so it increases the profit a fair bit when you get it like that rather than buying it a roadside, and you also get it to your own spec obviously rather than some of the random lengths the lorry drivers hate.
  2. I get wood from various estates up here, either for the felling or in return for some tree surgery.Find out through a neighbour, usually a farmer they always know, who the factor is,then contact them and take it from there. The factor will probably know of other estates too.My thinking is if you don't ask you don't get,and when there's no money involved it's usually right up the landowners street.
  3. Yeah you're right john, but it was well worth it,really good show.Needed 2 days to see it all.Depends what you're into, but yes the APF caters for everyone.Good to see the latest harvesting developments coz i'm jist a woodcutter at heart.
  4. Am i right in thinking you don't have your big tree ticket matt?cs33 a & b.That is a ticket that means nothing IMO until you've had a ALOT of experience! But yes it is better too have it before you start, mine was a bit of a joke.
  5. I took a litre an a half with me today an i ran out at 2 o'clock!4 litres goin with me tomorrow!
  6. It may smell but it doesn't taste..honest.

    Bio fuels

Aye seems some run fine on it and some don't.You'd fairly have to keep all stuff right to which do/don't if you went that way.Jist put a new carb in one of my 200t's and that was on normal fuel, not liking the idea of spending twice as much on fuel to have to replace it again!
  11. They were so stevie, chef's curry good too.
  12. I'm a bit like that myself,it's a bit of a thought on a hot day to get started but it's the only way to get the job done.Every time you fill the saw fill your self!
  13. I bought one last week.Very light, compact saw, sits well on the harness.ok for a reduction or light crown clean, nothin more than that IMO.Low end power ok but not as lively as a 200t,but then it's 150quid ish less than a 200t.You get what you pay for and that's all ibought it for,a cheap back up top hander.
  14. I don't mind the heat so much now.Drink diluting orange instead of water the sugar in it helps.Electrolyte good, but getting one that doesn't taste lioke sawdust helps.Oh yes and those new husqvarna type A's with the vents in are great(when the risk assessment allows!)
  15. We sadly didn't think it was as good as last year. But meetin some of you guys made up for it.I thought the catering was quite good on the friday but they obviously underestimated on the saturday, oops.thought they were qiute reasonable and great value for money compared to the highland show!Would make the trip down next year hopefully for a bit more of an AT social event.
  16. Be good to make it a bit more of a social event in the evening next year.Hijack a whole hotel or something.I'd certainly make the long drive down again:001_cool:

    Bio fuels

Having visited the Aspen stand at the show, does anyone use their premixed chainsaw fuel or bio chain oil? Thoughts and comments please.
  21. Ok as we are now back home, we are curious to see if we travelled the furthest to the AA show an each way journey of 563 miles. Is that dedication or just mad? If no-one can beat it do we win something??
  22. A big 2 part rake from Mr Bullman at jonesies stand, loads of random one liners on the way from the stand to the van.
  23. I thought so at the time i bought it but not now.Great for topping hedges with a 372 an 28 inch bar:001_cool:
