  1. :beerchug: Looks like we've won this one hands down Treeseer. The beers are on Skyhuck, MesterH and Mike Hill even though Mike isn't in this thread:001_smile:
  2. Good post treeseer...That's it in a nutshell:thumbup1:
  3. I would love to change my user name to 'Aunt Sally' but the last change is still ongoing after about 2 years so don't hold yer breath mate:001_smile:
  4. My last example was not great. I'm trying to weigh the short term gain of some individual ...say... property developer. Against the long term investment of people bringing up their kids in a leafy street. You have a legal position and a moral one. Sometimes the law is an ass. Then you have a dilemma regarding info gained through client trust. I am really struggling with what I would do if I know that someone is going to reduce the quality of life of the community as a whole in the long term, for personal short term gain.
  5. What should I do, in my capacity as a purveyor of second hand chippers, if a chap comes to me and tells me in confidence that the machine he has for sale is stolen from you?
  6. Because the world is not a fair place:sneaky2:
  7. There is a collective responsibility for trees in the urban landscape. That is what TPOs are for. To stop selfish people destroying our landscape because they decide they don't want a tree in their garden. There is a strong argument that such people should not be the custodians of these trees by virtue of property ownership
  8. This is Orca. I brought him back from Spain some years ago. He's a hardcore arb cat. He's been on Arbtalk a few times now giving advice and generally showing us how it's done.
  9. Here's one I dug out in Spain about 10 years ago. Its the reason I don't do it anymore. Yours puts me in the shade Mr Silky...Max respect. And yes I know the pose is a bit iffy:001_smile:
  10. Skyhuck was right about your sense of humour:001_smile: (he liked it by the way)
  11. We, the posters, post for various reasons...mostly an interest of some sort in the job. This is not a dig at our leader. But we are the traffic and we are being monetised (sp) for our trouble. Futile... who knows or cares..its a hobby, and there's nothing on the telly. The equation is simple.. No posters = No money.
  12. Simple answer. Tell the client you have to check for TPO anyway. If they don't want you to do that then walk away. End of problem. The OP's situation is different and I do sympathise with that. With regard to reporting an intention to fell, due to being asked by the client. If its a half decent tree you got to check it with the TO anyway. If the client says no. Then why cause yourself the hassle, you're out of the equation anyway. Would you then go and report this situation to the TO. No lifes too short.
  13. This could be a paradigm thing. Get googling folks...hope I spelt it right:001_smile:
  14. Credit To Silky, but nice one Mick. You really backed that guy that got injured and you are always helping people out. I think you are an honourable chap. Makes me proud that we made up after our little fall out:thumbup1:
  15. Not that I recall... but I am no fan of H&S. I think I referred to not wanting to comply with some H&S stuff as a matter of principal. This may have struck the same kind of chord as my current beer fuelled verbosity:001_smile:
  16. I noticed that Will, not picking on you mate.....no wuckers (you'll learn what no wuckers is when you get down under. By the way if my visa ever gets sorted I'll buy you a pint in NZ because I like your posts)
  17. Stop saying 'grass'.... You sound like a load of T..Leaves:001_smile:
  18. The use of the word 'grass' is unprofessional. It is associated with a code amongst thieves. If a tree surgeon feels that a tree should be protected from removal and chooses to discuss this with the TO then that is reasonable, no matter how he came about the information that the tree is destined for removal. Personally I might not do it without the clients permission unless it was a very special tree. All this use of the word 'grass' is childish and inapropriate.
  19. His bark is worse than his blight:blushing:
  20. His name is Prunus:001_smile:
  21. I still think a slack tender pulley on a prussic is the height of high tech mate:001_smile:
  22. Am I the only one who doesn't understand a word in climbers talk anymore. It might as well be in Russian:001_smile:
  23. That's a contradiction in terms....If it's easy it can't be 'ard:001_smile:
