  1. My real name has been right there Steve since 2008 and right now
  2. I meant cheers for agreeing with the previous post of mine and adding to it. It's one of the pitfalls of forum stuff which I'm quite used to by now. I'm on the cusp of getting banned here however and a little worried about free speech issues. You may have noticed that I don't personally insult people most of the time.
  3. So Steve I'm not a monster. What are you saying...pm me if you prefer. I'll stay online.
  4. Cheers old mill that's appreciated coming from someone I have locked horns with:thumbup1: They are getting annoyed with me ... I'm a proper tree cutter sayng what he thinks.. Arbtalk may not like it...it seems:001_smile:
  5. In what way. Because it's not just towing the line or what? If you don't like it being the boss I can leave, or you can tell me to.
  6. I confess that I am laying down a ball but not just for the sake of argument. I rellly do think that something positive can come out of all of this. On the derail front though, guilty as hell:001_smile:
  7. That's twice now that I've responded to you Skyhuck and you haven't replied. The other one in my boots thread. You know I love you and respect your opinion, but what's wrong with me being as straight talking as you are????? I have to assume that i've won both exchanges:001_smile:
  8. I put a dent in it myself thanks Rich....I forgot:001_smile:
  9. Whilst you consider your response. With the possible exception of Reg who does quite good vids. Its my view that there are a load of wannabes who want to build a rep as a big deal. Vids are for them. I'm a journeyman climber who's done quite a bit but not everything. I wan't to cut the bullshit, not add to it
  10. You are misunderstanding me and you know it. There is no awesome skill in this thing...that's my point.
  11. I had no idea you wouldn't mod me for saying bollocks. Anyway it's time for some truth
  12. I'm not freelance anymore, but the whole idea of better quicker climbers once you reach a degree of proficiency is macho bollocks. you are working on tiny English trees and after 20 years of cutting these things you can do it in your sleep:001_smile:
  13. I'm expecting some flack mate:001_smile: How about this then, I've said this before but not on arbtalk... If you ain't a climber you ain't a tree surgeon..
  14. Sorry graygit, I'm just getting down and dirty with this and ignored your post. Hope your kid is ok.
  15. It’s quite possible that I can be cheaper than half of you lot (because I do it myself), Do a better job (I’ve been doing it longer than most of you and served my time unlike half you lot), and make more profit (low overheads).
  16. Is this allowed...surely this is a clear case of giving a sensible answer to the OP......Where's the mod's when you need them:001_smile:
  17. If you don't wish to argue, don't make statements like this accusing people of stuff then writing off an entire ethnic group. With regard to your later remarks on undercutting... There are loads of regular members of arbtalk who don’t personally have the skills to climb and take down a tree, they have to employ someone like me to do it for them. Therefore I can do any tree cheaper than any of them or at least make more profit from it if we are the same price. I’m doing the work myself and not paying others to do it for me. What you call undercutting is just down to various choices on how you run your business. If all those members on here want to compete with me they are going to have to learn to climb a tree themselves for a start. Furthermore it’s my opinion that everyone has a right to go out and quote work if they think they can do it. It's about putting food on the table. I resent nobody and I mean nobody their right to do this. Edit I think your last post was quite good by the way even though I don't agree with all of it... are you a climber yourself?
  18. Some good points there chaps. Just back from a long day..up at 5am and back from London at 10pm. On the window of the train there was a sticker which said about putting bags on the rack, and being careful not to bang your head on the rack. That sticker will not stop people banging their head on the rack. It just removes the rail companies' liability for you doing so. I shall leave you with that thought, night night I' m shagged:001_smile:
  19. I prefer to use an acronym:001_smile:
  20. Its doing what you like with your own time, working in a way that an individual chooses to work. No employer owns anybody. Speak for yourself in terms of who hates whom. I don't hate travellers and I don't use derogatory terms to describe them.
  21. Being self employed...for me... is not just about profit and loss in money terms. It's about TIME...and how much of your life you wan't to sell for bugger all money to someone else for their gain and not yours. Being self employed can buy you time to use as you see fit... I have long weekends all the time. Just got back from golf in fact:001_smile:
  22. I've done it with some yew that I found dotted about the place. My little nursery has grown to include holly, and connys that I find and grow on for hedging plants. I keep meaning to ask Dean how his yew are doing so I know how quick they'll get bigger.
  23. Funny you ask just now. I was pulling up some self seeded ash today as I am always doing and thinking what a waste....be great to grow them on for wood. Why not just look out for ash trees (away from your grazing animals) and then go grab the self seeded saplings, always loads about.
  24. The girls down south look like blokes Steve:001_smile: Actually that's an old skanned photo from the early 90's where I spent a few years with a free party system...Spiral Tribe. I was on the technical side of things due to a previous career as a roadie in the exhibition industry. I'm a bit too old for all that now:001_smile:
  25. I will be too when Littletree comes along to set me straight:001_smile:
