  1. Good post Mr Lump, you're as bonkers as me:001_smile: We're beating the other...Which Boots? thread hands down too:thumbup1:
  2. I am going to add a caveat. I often speak as a gnarled old arb with my sometimes cynical opinions. It is my opinion that all people newish to the industry should wear chainsaw boots. To make a decision such as I have made, which a lot of people won't agree with anyway....It should be based on experience. I do not advocate that newbies scrimp and save on PPE. This may seem like a contradiction, but there you go.
  3. I do think my title has a good Saturday night edge to it:001_smile: Our leader isn't gonna like it though:001_smile: I was doing battle with the under priced conny again today, 3ft diameter to about twenty feet with a 12 inch bar. Like slicing a lump of cheese it was. Now I'm doing this:001_smile:
  4. You have my blessing to change it to whatever you see fit Skyhuck and I will respect your choice, and Micks' choice too. I respect both your opinions but think chainsaw boots are a waste of money. I nearly titled it ... Which boots?
  5. Hardly worth a double Skyhuck.... You're just giving them away now mate:001_smile:
  6. That's why I put the question mark Mick, If you don't think they are a waste of money then it's up to you to say so. I'm open to suggestion on an improvement on the title, as long as it includes my opinion that they are a waste of money:001_smile:
  7. I don't use them. Why spend 200 quid on boots when a decent pair of work boots will set you back 40 or 50 quid. Kiwis don't use them in NZ and I haven't bothered to replace mine since working there about 6 years ago. Your thoughts please chaps:001_smile:
  8. Did it take you a long time to think of that Czlowiek?
  9. Just been doing battle with an under priced conny on a bank holiday Saturday, and look at arb talk straight away after cracking a cold one (or two) of course. How about..... "Would you get your car off my chipper dust please":001_smile:
  10. The difference is mate that you are a lot more careful if you know you've got to pay for it yourself, like me over a roof the other day slinging every bit rather than hand holding, and having the luxury of having the time to do so. Your issues are to do with not being on site yourself. As far as I know there is no solution to this unless someone like Tony works for you, and even then....rare as rocking horse...
  11. Are you sending other people out or doing it yourself, there's a big difference in the management / liability issues. If you are sending out someone else then you are gonna get these costs.
  12. I don't even have a chipper at the mo... but I'm thinking of it in terms of blown sawdust from the tree that I'm up. I do warn folks where possible at quote stage.
  13. This problem should be foreseen and dealt with at quote stage
  14. Move the car first... they got wheels mate:001_smile:
  15. Good post Mr lump. Apparently we're about the same age (from redwoods thread), maybe that's why I agree with you a lot. And the post by the vegy grower that Hama liked a few posts back...also good:thumbup1: Edit: I mean by Harvey... Good post bud
  16. The truth is... I got quite a good score at golf this arvo:001_smile:
  17. We cut trees because we can't spell or add up:001_smile: Then we go to a techno party = new age bit:001_smile:
  18. Tony speaks cockney ... So "was we born with.." is grammatically (sp) correct:001_smile:
  19. So you fixed 'cold' what you gonna do about 'poor' Answer to Tonys Question...No
  20. I've decided this post comes across as a bit rude and disrespectful. Sorry about that Andy. Didn't mean to be rude to you.
  21. I mean 'we the posters' Andy, You are the swear police, and not moaning about site sponsors stuff breaking...police:sneaky2:
  22. I've contradicted myself more than a self contradicting thing lately:001_smile: You lot are not on your toes, I'm disapointed
  23. Hey Stubby. I;m not picking on you or anything but.... What boots do you think I should buy?
  24. Cheers mate:001_smile: it's now turned into a glass of red and is less virtual. Your argument is good. The sticking point is the 'dobbing in bit'. I've never done it, but I can think of cases where I think I might have to. I can think of one case involving a massive and majestic Beech which I actually said hello to when I drove past, where I wish I had had the opportunity. I am an old hippy but no real tree hugger and mostly agree with the Skyhuck we cut trees view.
