  1. ive got sip ultrafits, there good trousers, not had them up a tree yet but plenty ground work, there hard wearing and still very flexable for climbing, bit heavy due to them being type c but with braces n a belt i hardly notice there on
  2. how would one get into this ? i wouldnt mind doing a lil bit n selling to family and friends to start with, especially my gran as she pays silly money for her logs, 6 - 8 inch dia and prob 8 inch long unsplit. think she paid around 30 quid for conifer variety unsplit un seasoned, b lucky if she got half a cube
  3. i have spoke to my local stihl dealer and he has the same view as me, i feel that there should b a minimum competency for DIYers etc to buy a chainsaw. you cant buy a top handle without tickets so why should anyone be able to buy a ground saw without tickets. i dont have nptc as yet but i would prefer to have at least cs30 and 31 before buying a saw so at least i have some sort of competency. with the credit crunch etcmore and more people are buying chainsaws and log burning stoves so they can be more self suficient but they aint buying the correct ppe if any at all which will in turn make it harder for us to get tickets.
  4. i seen this aswell, those suits they wear, that must be agony with the amount of heat produced, its bad enuf wearing type c chainsaw trousers lol cant imagine wat thats gonna b like in summer
  5. of course i have, but you only get what you pay for
  6. doesnt matter these days, if u buy a new car garunteed its in the garage within the month, fair enuf there will b the odd exception but genrally its much the same. i can c your point about the travelling but i would think you could claim from the company as its down to them to sort the problem so you have a claim for down time, travel and compensation of some kind, these companys wanna keep you sweet so you go back

    no fear

ok folks getting mixed feed bac here, im no macho nutter with a saw, i know fine well wat can happen if im daft with the saw, in the chipper post you will all notice i do daft things whe there is NO danger. i am wary whe using chainsaws but it doesnt feel like fear and its dependant on what i do, ie snedding x cutting etc etc. i respect chainsaws and any advice that has been given to me i have tried to encorporate into the operation of the machine. i am still learning as we all are but i am not a silly young lad that thinks he isinvinsible, at the end of the day i have a son to think about n the last thing h needs is for his daddy to stop seeing him because he was an idiot at work and wasnt paying much attention to what he was doing. i hope that explains things better guys

i do respect the saw like, i know what it can do to me if i become complacent or start taking risks, maybe im just sorta in the rite state of mind ? its hard 2 explain like. the guy im doin work exp says i have control and im working well with the saw so im not being daft with it or anything. hes gonna give me a go of the 066 on friday so hopefully that will make me respect them even more

does anyone hav any advice on having no fear of chainsaws ?
  13. will certainly take your advice bud thanks. thing is, i wasnt going stupidly fast it was just the way i turned 2 come bk down really
  14. bahco with wire visor and peltor muffs the way i was standing and turned meant all my wieght went into hitting the chute. at the end of the day we all learn by our mistakes, im just clumsy from time to time n its always when i do the jobs with no danger, when i pick up a saw i go into a zone and become 100 % focused on safety and aware of wats going on.
  15. dnt wanna sound cheeky m8 but how in gods name is a helmet gonna save my face when im going to shovel chips ? fair enuf i mite not have a cut on my face had my visor been down but it wouldnt have stopped me getting a black eye or hurting myself. the chipper was not running i was no where near the work zone, wasnt in any imediate danger what so ever, no reason to have visor down no reason to have muffs down
  16. my helmet wouldnt have done anything, the cut is just below my eye and the force i hit the chipper would have broke the visor, i always wear my helmet coz if im not paying much attention the boss throws sticks at me from above ha ha
  17. had just chipped a load of cypress and decided to go into the pick up to mound it up a bit, got up found no shovel, truned to come back down and skudded my face off the chipper chute resulting in a black eye and a deep cut to my rite cheek bone ha ha. the boss was in stitches. dont worry folks the timberwolf is just fine
  18. thanks m8, good bit of advice that, i have been trying to get out as often as poss and id`ing trees. going to be working on threave gardens on my work experience so hopefully get some id there
  19. its the same with any jobs, the people who have been doing the job for x amount of years will hands down have more experience and know of easier ways to do the jobs

  24. cheeky bugger it comes from my second name nugent pronounced new gent. my nick name is nugget but its not always nugget by name nugget by nature lol
  25. i went to do a job in the digger wen i worked for a construction company and refused to do the job when i got there because of the crap lieing around, fair enuf i was in the digger most of the time but when the track was dug i was out laying water pipe so i wasnt getting it on me lol. i told the customer and within 5 mins they were out with the shovel to clean it up. also told the customer they would get billed for the call out had i left the job it is just pure lazyness on the owners behalf
