  1. There were 67% more trailer accidents pre 97 compared to last year.
  2. I THINK that electrical generation for business is still ok. I know it is for domestic.
  3. I am shocked you found the costs similar to grid elec. Most gennys use about 0.6l per kWh produced. At current red diesel rates thats 43p's worth. If you can capture the wet & dry heat lost & use it then it can be a better option.
  4. Just remember your total electrical motor load cant be much over half the genny capacity or the motors wont start properly. Cost wise the genny will use as much or more than running the processor directly.
  5. We are totally off grid. 2 x 5kw Victron mkII inverters set up in parallel with Cerbo control system, currently 52kwh battery but just about to double it. Small 1.2kw PV array that we need to extend. Powering house and soon a static caravan too.
  6. Not sure yet what help I can be.
  7. Nope but then there are loads of vehicles that you cant take a test in. LGV test vehicles must be able to do over 50mph. It must have a closed cargo compartment (vehicle & trailer). Vehicle must be at least 8m long & with trailer total minimum 14m, the trailer must make up at least 7.5m of that. Vehicle must carry at least 5000kg & have a minimum real weight of 10000kg. 8000kg total load if towing. To name a few reasons.
  8. Or this one
  9. This happened locally a few years back. https://www.facebook.com/NWPRPU/posts/944191632421173
  10. Whilst a tractor is a tractor its the use of that tractor that defines which licence you need. Your cat F licence does not cover using the tractor for non Ari type uses. I have attached a conversation I had with a Barrister re this issue a few years back. Tractors for non Agri use.docx
  11. Is the pto running fast & the honda running slow?

You can tow two trailer with a tractor as long as 1, both trailers are empty. 2, both trailers are agri implement. 3, one is a trailer & one is an implement. You need the middle unit to be rated to tow the rear unit & all weight MAMS MLPM Axle weights & GTW must be complied with.
  14. Then you dont know much. I still do trailer courses. Just not as many.
  15. You seem to have an odd understanding of what I do.
  16. I get about lol. Currently hoping that the C1 D1 C1E D1E work picks up now they seem to have stopped messing with it. Currently upping the car learner work too, but dont want that to be full time. Topped up with a few trailer jobs for company's that understand H&S needs & the occasional private client should see me OK. Once I sort out a suitable tow vehicle I do have loads of processing jobs to catch up on too.
  17. Dont work with paper at all. I guess cutting peoples trees down so they have a nicer garden is not an industry either.
  18. Just had reply from my MP. Its not as news as we thought. The delay is due to admin not changing the coming into force date from the 15th to a new date. So it looks like it will be back in the commons ASAP with a new date. So same plan just new date.
  19. For what? No BE tests available, even if there were there are no 3a reverse tests available till JAN 2022 for any licence type never mind BE. No training certification scheme if they go that route. Just more limbo. Just shoot the industry, stop letting it suffer a slow death & be done with it.
  20. The Gov / DVSA have pulled the planned changes to the BE test from debate in the Commons today & the Lords for an unscheduled date. They are now looking at making a new plan / representing the plan at a later date. You cant make this stuff up, https://www.facebook.com/TrailerTrainingCymru/posts/2963424083917878
  21. If you facebook https://www.facebook.com/RichFirewood UK Firewood Processing – UK wide onsite firewood processing for home or trade UKFIREWOODPROCESSING.CO.UK Or whatsapp 07816642895
  22. As I have said many times. People in this forum are not typical of your average driver / tow'er. Lots are just of the nipple. Lots cant reverse a car never mind a trailer. Lots cant deal with roundabouts. Lots think you can tow at the same speed as you drive in a car & stop in the same distance. Lots pull out at junctions into the same gaps they do in a car (number one cause of fails, oddly DVSA call it observation at junctions). Some are scared of driving / towing but need too do it. I could go on but we would both get bored. I will just say it yet again just to be clear. My BEST clients have been ARB workers. They have common sense. PS it seems that there will soon be an approved trailer course & that insurance might be looking for it. As might H&S etc. Time will tell. The Gov seem to think most people will still take training. I think they are wrong as this thread (and FB posts etc) shows. I doubt there will be a 5-10% take up compared to when it was mandated. Just like chainsaws, you could train the staff yourself but is it worth it when there is (will be) an approved certified course? Currently I am not planning on taking up doing the gov scheme. I think the cost to me will be to great for minimal take up compared to previously & by the time its released I will either be broke or be making money elsewhere. PPS if your trailer training & test taught you nowt then you went to the wrong trainer / did a short course with no time to cover good driving. Just enough time to not fail the test.
  23. Not at all you could develop your own suitable training courses.
  24. Towing is not just about going backwards. What about hitching, loading & securing followed by the actual main course of driving? If they had an accident you would be held accountable. But its your business so your call to make.
