  1. Totally agree. As I have said many time arb clients were generally the best.
  2. Dont count on it. I saw that one hire company that are insisting on you having held a licence for 4 years & have proof of you completing a training course before they will hire you a trailer. Insurance underwriters are also looking at if they need to alter premiums or impose limits / controls. They are especially pissed because the consultation did not allow them to have their say on the changes. as it was pushed through under special powers. Time will tell. I dont think anyone has all the answers currently.
  3. True but you still need to keep an eye out for the police / DVSA
  4. You will still run over loaded
  5. Try reading some of the abusive posts from your fellow arb's. Who exactly is doing the bitching?
  6. Already happening thanks. I was just letting you all know that your younger staff will be able to tow after the 15th nov. nothing more nothing less.
  7. How did I lobby for a change that happened in 97 in an industry I had nothing to do with at that time? Shall we get rid of all training? Saws planes trains Dr's ect ect. Training is much cheaper than dealing with the aftermath. Would you hire someone with no chainsaw tickets but had been cutting for years? Companies are obligated to train all staff in the use of all equipment at work. They can self train if they so wish for lots of things. PS this thread was just to let you all know when it would be legal for your younger staff to tow.
  8. I assume you charge (fleece) people too for your services?
  9. Most people are not you or had your experiences. Lots have no idea how to handle a trailer safely re hitching or reversing or how to modify their driving because of it. You not having an incident does not mean others dont. They dont check your licence if your old The increase does not have to be drastic if its your loved one thats hurt.
  10. THIS is the issue. You cant learn much apart from how to pass in 5 hours. Most people take the minimum course possible. Now going to read rest of your post.
  11. So lets get rid of chainsaw trainers too.
  12. Is that exactly what you are doing now? You glad the gov are not messing with your industry while killing another one?
  13. You do know that when the gov looses money you end up covering that loss one way or another?
  14. The reason they removed the BE was not safety or to help car drivers. It was supposed to help increase the number of lorry drivers. Its not working. The tests cant be booked as lgv trainers were already working at capacity. Lack of tests was not the issue.
  15. What are you smoking? This is not just about me. The entire driver training industry is in tatters. The gov are loosing about £50k per week in lost test fees. Industry is loosing £4-600k in lost courses. The meddling they have done is not producing more drivers.
  16. No round here. Either silly prices or they just dont get back to you.
  17. Info out there does not translate to being able to actually do it. Theory & practice are not the same. If its so easy why did so many fail the test? Why so many accidents? Why so many caravan fall of the ball? Why do all the official safety stats say that driver error & lack of training is the reason for the accidents?
  18. Need a good cheap supply of cord.
  19. Carry on doing a little C1 C1E D1 & D1E work but even thats been hampered by the gov trying to make things better. Do more processing once I have a suitable tow vehicle. Then see how things go.
  20. I would actually agree re most arb people, or at least the ones I have met professionally. Sadly most people are not arb people & actually need training.
  21. Yes as soon as she passes.
  22. National chipper freedom day has been announced as the 15th Nov 2021. Yup thats right from then EVERYONE will be given the BE licence.
  23. i had a rocking pto driven saw similar in action to that but with a stand alone splitter. Thats why i wanted a processor as it got tiring moving 10foot, 9foot4" etc etc till it was gone then repeat.
  24. I guess I am looking at it with old eyes & an aching body
  25. Could all be fixed / improved for minimal cost / effort at design / build stage.
