  1. If you now take the C1E you dont get your D1 upgraded to D1E on post 97 licences but you do get BE that you can keep at 70. If you take CE you do get the E added to any of theses you already hold, B D1 C1 & D. I actually dont know what would happen if you did B the C then CE, you would get BE but if you then did D1 or D. Not sure if they would give you D1E or DE or not.
  2. I was explaining what would have happened if you had a later licence without the other +E's & that his D1E & BE are better than the new versions after 19-01-2013. If you have a pre 97 C1 then it expires the day before you are 70. If you took the test its every 5 years after 55 but they did a covid extension so that can move the dates or just taking a medical late / early. You still have the c1 107 as that is still valid if you dont take a medical for your CE.
  3. For normal D4 medicals for licence applications its 3 or 4 months. So i would assume the same.
  4. The restriction re the trailer cant weigh more than the vehicle was removed. When you pass C1E you get all the lower licences up graded to +E as well. When you did it you would have also got the D1E if you did not already have it. Your D1E is actually better as "weight limit does not apply".
  5. Then you have the 107.
  6. Available nationally. Search for D4 medical
  7. Thats odd as I got the letter and only owned a small car.
  8. £45
  9. Oddly I remember getting the letter about it and trying to get to keep it but none of mates had suitable kit to say I was using it. Even if I had I would still have needed to take the test to teach it
  10. You had to prove you were using it for work to keep it. You had about a year to do so.
  11. Or take the medical to keep it.
  12. Then you either took c1e or ce test. Or when the new rules came about you claimed the fill c1e as you could prove you were using it. Or you have the old paper licence and think because you cant see it it does not apply. If the latter check your licence online. You will then see the 107 restriction. Thats what the police will go on not the bit of paper.
  13. LOTS of trainers will try to make you take the C1 first.
  14. But it also has a 107 code restricting you to a gtw of 8250kg
  15. YES, after passing medical & theory / hazard tests. Or they can drive a 5000kg vehicle with a trailer plated to 3250kg.
  16. Interesting read. I fully get were you are coming from but a few comments are just not true. I have a processor (wp30) that can handle arb waste, rings, twisty stuff & straight bits that does not need all the other bits of kit you mention. You can do lengths, rings, short bits & twisty bits yet still have a great volume of production with less manual handling. Plus I have a second one that has those bits (deck, power source, crane ect) built in to a road legal trailer base. Not as good for short bits or rings (but can do them) but can do twisty stuff still. It does however virtually remove manual handling. Especially now you are having it extracted in the lengths it might be time to reconsider your stance. Re your thinner bits look at a branch logger. Quality of logs is less but sell them as pit logs. The speed of production more than makes up for a lower resale value. As you rightly say a processor will never equal the quality of a hand produced split log where each log can be individually worked but a cleaner can make up for it.
  17. Be quicker / easier to leave in lengths & hire a processor. Get it done in a week including splitting.
  18. C1E 107, drive a vehicle up to 7500kg with a trailer over 750kg as longs as the combined plates total 8250kg or less. D1E 101 Drive a vehicle with between 9 & 16 passengers seats But not for hire or reward. Code 109 is an odd one. I can only find it relating to NI licences. Code Reference Details of Restriction 109 Must undergo the driving test within 2 months of issue Did you mean 119 as thats what people normally have? Weight limit does not apply. More recent D1 & D1E are limited to the same weights as C1 & C1E.
  19. Does your C1E have a 107 & the D1 & D1E a 101? Re the rest you can look them up here to save me typing. Driving licence categories - GOV.UK WWW.GOV.UK Driving licence categories - entitlements on your licence and what vehicles you can drive - cars, motorcycles, mopeds...
  20. Are you confusing C1E with CE? C1 does not = Class one. Be cheaper to send them here & pay travel / accommodation costs
  21. 1, So you have to watch the ones with C1E 107 & the bigger chippers as they will be over their licence limits. 2, For the full shebang about £1500 starting with car licence to finish with C1E inc medicals test fees & courses. If they already have C1E 107. To remove the 107 would cost £840 as they still need medical & theory / hazard. Plus £220 if you need DCPC again inc test fees courses & use of vehicle. If they are keen self learners then you could just pay the test fees of about £90 & use your own vehicle. The two tests are not hard but do need effort.
  22. Sadly yes. Thats why I try to find out if they plan to do C1 later. Lots do plan too but need the E now so suck up the extra costs / test.
  23. But not tow much with a C1E 107 Plus lots with the C1E 107 are still driving illegal as like all licences its based on plated weights not actual weights. So if the trailer is a 3500kg one the vehicle cant be plated more than 4750kg.
  24. A C1 does not cover driving those vehicles. Your B licence does, To tow with them you need BE.
  25. That depends on if you need CPC or not. Not all driving needs CPC. Regardless of C1 c or CE ect. Its the use that counts.
