  1. If you are based in Wales we can source substantial funding for you for the following courses:- BE towing licence C1 7500kg C1E 7500kg plus trailer Initial CPC They will also fund other professional courses too.
  2. Cheers. You too.
  3. Lots claim they are exempt. They are not.
  4. If your planning on road towing this make sure you get the IVA certificate from the seller. Lots are off road tow only.
  5. I am looking for a lorry load (Rigid, Artic or Wagon & drag) near to Pwllheli. Does any one have any or contacts who might?

Sounds like a sensible sort of place offering similar to my self.

Think back to the road conditions when you learnt to drive compared to what they have to deal with today. Accident stats have I think improved over the years. Considering the road changes that's surprising. Accident stats for old drivers is not too good either

Perhaps they do longer courses that include that for people with less experience? Not all courses are the same.

That is a very old fashioned view of the learning to drive / pass the test. Perhaps when most took 5-10 hours to pass the learn to pass then learn to drive after had some validity. Now most take far more hours covering far more situations prior to test. You you still need to gain experience but you should have a far better grasp on driving than previously.

2 "days"? Round here most trainers call 3 - 5 hours a day. Our training days are 7 hours. I hear lots of people say similar to your re the test & what they learnt on the course they took. You then find they did the shortest / cheapest course they could so you do only have just enough time to cover the minimum to pass the test & not enough to actually learn the subject or cover best practice.

How many hours was the course & how much did it cost?

Ah the old "I am a farmer" so I know better approach. Accidents in the farming industry say otherwise & its time farmers in general took more notice of safety & safe working / best practice. Looking at most farm vehicles whilst towing & they are clearly overloaded, excessive nose weight, mostly insecure loads with lots having no working lights and no number plate. Hardly a beacon of excellence to stand behind. Not all vehicle trailer and load combo's will be level when correct. Adjusting nose load is not to be level. Caravans tend to run slightly nose down, which is much better than slightly nose up. Towballs and hitches should be between the spec but that's when fully loaded. Pickups and 4x4 tend to be far to high if not fully loaded.

Nose weight / static load. Same thing. Get it wrong and you will be unstable during the times you are not braking ie the biggest part of the drive.

The recommended amount with a correctly loaded trailer is 5-7% of actual weight. So even a fully loaded 3500kg trailer should not need that much.

What sort of minefield do you think it is?

That is a very high nose weight limit for a vehicle. Not sure any Landrovers have one that high. It is well in excess of what the trailer would be allowed to have.
  19. Sounds like they confused the second part of the rule of the vehicle and trailer totalling 3500kg if the trailer is over 750kg.
  20. Currently its blather. There have been no changes since 19-01-2013. No information re forth coming changes and with the GE looming no changes can be made.
  21. I am sure the new ish sales regs protects consumer purchases so it would not be legal but trade to trade it would still be ok.
  22. I guess its because of the licence issue. Just take the test

Shared courses would make it even cheaper per head.

£900 per head (Medical, theory, hazard, driving, CPC mod 2 & CPC mod 4) & every one can have C1 inc 5 years worth of CPC to get them started.

If 3000kg+ vans came under the same regs as those over 3500kg re tacho & O licence people would use the right vehicle for the job. A 3500kg vehicle is not a real load carrier.
