  1. Beautiful work Roger
  2. I did that, cheers' gallery_castle
  3. The last dealer I was at would not repair a few of my broken chains, must get myself a breaker and spinner, been saying that for years now' I did have the grip type a long time ago.
  4. That would be a half or three Quarter moon!
  5. Very nice Moon, very pleasing to look at' must try one and make it into a seat for my garden.
  6. No problem Roger,

I know by reading the yellow forum there is a few carvers make their own bars from old bars, and repair there old ones.

From what I gather you need the solid ones not split and joined ones, there is a few engineering factories and a blacksmiths near me so I should check them out somtime.

Maybe I could shorten a one from the back, never thought of that'

The 8" is doing me fine for now, those little 27cc Echoes are my favorite little saw.

I will write your ad down and get them posted for you tomorrow,

I am starting a tree for Sunderland council, mon, So I am at home for two weeks and will be posting the process pics here over the two weeks, thats if it works out mind' lol

We'll meet sometime, I have started going to the Wales woodfest and Tatton park comp, placed third last year, not bad for only carving three years part time, eh!

    Regards, Tommy

  7. Thats the full house chain Roger, can't believe you went to the trouble making one! I have two unused one with 56 dl the other 63dl pm your address and you can have them, Did you make the 6" bar yourself, and what saw is it on? I would like to buy one. Jonesie I'm interested in buying some of the modified carving chain, I think I paid around £20 for a 10" chain from a Stihl dealer
  8. Hi Roger, Its called full house chain, used for a smoother finish not for boring! I have a few but don't bother with it' Simon used to use it and I think I bought a few off Simon and Uncle Ed Robinson gave me one. Its 1/4 pitch but not the modified chain, Email Simon, he may have some! What size bar do you want one for, I think I have a 14" 12" and 10" I will have a look tomorrow just to make sure. Cheers, Tommy
  9. Thats what I will have to do for now, cheers
  10. Rapid micro spezial which i take to be special'
  11. Hi Roger, Here is a link Flavio Favaro made on the yellow forum with the number for the chain and a link to the sthil chain. carvingpost: Re: Flavio ?Flavio ?where art thou Flavio? STIHL Power tools You should be able just to give the stihl dealer the name of the chain, they should have the chain in their catologue!!! They are a pain dealers sometimes!!! Hope this helps, having trouble with my mobile connection so make this short and speak later, Tommy
  12. I just had a pic, it would of been easier with a model. Thanks, Tommy
  13. Simon sold me the bar, and he has told me he's having trouble getting a reel of the chain. You can get the chains ready made at a stihl dealer but they don't do them for an 8" which is a bit disappointing!
  14. Hi Roger, seen your work on the American forum, really nice work' I have a 8" Cannon dime tip on my echo cs2700, the modifide chain is the new sthil carving chain, you don't have to grind the heels of the cutters. Tommy
  15. ha ha cheers, Sam's proverbials is a £350.00 this one is sold'
  16. Si Orourke, are you selling modified chain? I need two for my 8" bar Cheers Tommy
  17. I hear what you say Simon, the event and hospitality is great. May return one day'
  18. hahaha cheers, and old feller more like. Thats my new dog Sam' Cheers,
  19. Seems like ages I have carved any thing, still working away felling but I managed this order today, needs a little work when I get home. Will post a pic when its finished Sos about the crappy phone pic. Cheers Tommy
  20. OK Simon, will be very busy juggling the carving and felling work I have from now till April but let me know when Harry can do it and I will try and make it. Seen a trailer for Tim Burtons Alice yetersday when I took the kids to see Avatar 3d looks amazing, so was Avatar! All the best for 2010 Tommy & Family
  21. Hope you don't mind me giving advice when I havent even carved a Bear, here's some pics from the Hackensack event in America, Dayton Scoggins bears won that event, I think yours are very similar and not that far from his, so your on the right track!
  22. Nice bear, the posture and fur detail is very good if the face was a little less perfect, I think it would look more natural if you know what I mean, and like Simon says a lot better than some on the American forum, I have not carved a Bear but if I was going for real, I would go off real bear images or drawings.
  23. Nice profile, pose is brill' harder to carve but do you think its better than your Tatton Park piece?
  24. Can't wait to see it, will you have the person sit for you, have you already and sketched him or are you going off photographs? very interested how you will do it. Tommy
  25. You are probably right Steve and I will advise the architect on this, there is more trees to be taken down! Thanks'
