  1. I have a 14" quater tip with 3/8 lp chain on mine, works well for shaping after blocking out! and I have just bought a 12" quater tip to try out on it, for closer faster work, I may just buy another 346 if it works well! A lot of people run a 16" toonie on them. Where in Northumberland are you? get your bars from Uncle Ed Ed-Robinson.co.uk

  4. Due to someone dropping out I was very lucky to be in invited to what is considered the best comp in the world in May. Simon Orourke placed 2nd but could of been first due to one point being deducted for some screws he did not hide, I placed 11th which was fine by me not knowing I was going less than 1 week beforehand, I will post Simons first then mine.   5. I don't know which ones your on about, but yes there is still loads of immpressive mature Firs, they did have the record for the tallest Douglas in England till it was beaten by one in the south! Will be up there for about 2-3 weeks late August, can't wait!
  6. This will be one of a few sculptures I will be doing in Cragside hall grounds Rothbury in late August, had to show you's this Douglas Fir butt that will be a green man face, it will be the first I do You all probably know where this is now!

  12. With a little more experience I'm embarrased now and I take it all back what I wrote, its a fair do the carvers vote for the winners. Comps are too serious and the results should be taken with a pinch of salt' every one has there own oppinion' Cheers'
  13. Thanks, The internal height and width is 2m x 2.2m the wood is Douglas Fir and I have advised to oil it yearly! Thanks again...

  15. Finally got to carve the sign, was rushed a bit last day to get it up for opening day today, need to go back and tidy the joins up and sand some glue off! The back and sides are to be done at a later date..
