  6. Carved this at the Wales Woodfest this year, It did not work out quite the way I wanted and the wings are poor, but I was cany pleased with it.
  7. Have not posted in ages, lost my Dad to cancer in April eight weeks after being diagnosed, its been a night mare but I'm getting back into carving and loving it. I had to go and carve this memorial bench at a paid demo the morning we lost him, I could not let them down and I knew my Dad would of wanted me to do it. Cheers, Tommy
  8. Thanks, Portraits would be the hardest thing to carve, its hard enough doing a face never mind getting it to look like someone. Heres a pic of a face I used for my Fairy, similar but not identical! I carved the dog for someone but they only wanted a 2ft one, so I have to do another, this one is sold now. I think Dogs are good seller's but I think you do get the fussy customers to go with it, like my dog has longer hair or his ears are to short! carve it again! Email me some pics Shrek, and I will have see what I can do. Cheers Tommy
  9. Nice work Si, love the Dagger and the Yew bird, Do you know Vagz he does a similar style to that
  10. Thanks Si, I only started the comps last year, this year is going to be tuff the way my elbows are at the moment, its a pain in the ass, elbow' I mean.
  11. This is my first carving since the Stirling tree, been trying to rest my tennis elbows. Its supposed to be an English Springer Spaniel. Saw finished A bit of grinding and chisel Cheers, Tommy
  12. Fantastic Monk, he would of used saws to start with but it looks like the work of a hand carver. Is there no names anywhere?
  13. http://www.carvecarrbridge.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 Might see you there then, 4 hours chainsaw only thats a tough comp! Cheers Tommy:confused1:
  14. Ps. Nice website you have
  15. Thank you's LOL, you should never tell anyone where the mistakes are because its only you that knows where they are! ahhhh but if you look closer I gave it ears cos I knew you would tell, lol. Thanks again and I never came across those keys, they are well buried I think whats your address again I could do with a new motor' lol The APF is next year isn't it, won't you be at Carrbridge? 16. The Echo's are great little saws for detailing. The Echo CS2700ES is smaller and lighter, and you can get an 8" bar for really up close detail work. If you can afford it buy an ms 200 with a 12" dime tip 1/4 pitch, plus stihl are now selling the special carving chain whith the backs of the cutter already shaped! I also use a 346xp with a 14" quater tip with 3/8 lp chain cuts really fast, then I have a 357xp with a 16" Toonie this has a nose smaller than your standard and is good for blocking out in scary tight spots. Its also run with the 3/8 lp chain. Its Standard bars after that on my 362, 372, 660 Good luck. http://treesculpting.co.uk/
  17. Cheers, yes you sometimes find rot spots , this one has a large hole where a limb has been lost and its rotted ' thats the reason it was felled. That is it where I have carved the Dragons tail, it will not be long before the two pieces seperate.
  18. A few more Cheers, Tommy
  19. A few more photos of the finished Beech
  20. I am heading home tomorrow Thursday, for the weekend and will be back on Monday-Thursday. Cheers, Tommy
  21. hahaha, hey wait till I'm paid, good to meet you and I will keep an eye out for the keys you lost! I am only spending 6 more days on it and its staying where it lies, unless its nicked. lol ps sorry about the Stirling misspelling but I'm overworked tired and dislexic, Cheers Tommy
  22. Thanks, Thanks Stevie and will see you when you turn up, I use a full combi can a day just like when I'm felling all day Cheers, Tommy
