  1. Exactly! But what was your point? This is what I was alluding to;- Why many experts aren't impressed with the UK's energy plans WWW.BBC.CO.UK The new energy strategy will not help bills or carbon emissions in the short run, critics say.
  2. Sycamore is a good bet if you can find any of that. There's masses around, it's a "weed tree" really, so you should be able to source some. It's kind of a half way house between soft and hard wood; dries much more quickly than Oak but doesn't burn as fast as most softwoods.
  3. He's got a lot of good stuff to say, once you get over his shouty delivery. Anyway, here's some good news on natural treatments for health conditions. Bad news for the big pharma industry however. Psychedelic frees up depressed brain, study shows WWW.BBC.CO.UK The drug found in magic mushrooms could treat depression in a unique way, researchers say.
  4. Towards the next roll of wallpaper perhaps. The sum won't cover much more than one of Carrie's preferred rolls I expect.
  5. Regardless of people's views on the Covid rules and restrictions, (which the majority of people did try to adhere to, as they understood their purpose), it's the repeated barefaced lying and double standards that they ought to give a shit about. The irony is that if people are too busy struggling to make ends meet to be concerned about this, then that is largely down to the same group of individuals who claim to run this country. The current cost of living crisis has been greatly exacerbated by their policies and actions. (Just consider the energy policy that was announced recently; very little help to the millions struggling right now, and a disaster for the environment). I'm astounded that some people are happy to be led by such a dishonest, unscrupulous group who clearly have no empathy or compassion for the rest of us hardworking general public. This guy really shouldn't be still in power. It's not even a party political issue, (other parties are available btw, it doesn't have to be a dipolar debate). Even a genuine Conservative government would be better than this lot.

I used to do work for the Director of L and S Engineers, taming his very large and splendid, but overgrown garden. He is a really nice guy. He started the business twenty odd years ago I think. They sell a hell of a lot of other stuff as well as chainsaw spares. He used to be able to get me anything I needed pretty much, at an extremely fair price. Shame I no longer work for him .........
  7. Result! The sense of achievement and relief is palpable when you finally get a bugger like that out.
  8. If you're not fussed about the sea, and looking for some rural peace and quiet I'd go for Herefordshire. I've been there today. Or other areas of the Welsh Marches or Mid-Wales.
  9. Are they good cooked in white wine too, dead prostitutes?
  10. They were very good quality to be fair. Only a couple of duffers in the whole 1kg bag. £7 per kilo. Seemed cheap to me but I've very rarely bought them. Hopefully they were from our shores but you never know these days.
  11. That's some fat ribs, looks bloody tasty.
  12. The market. I've no idea of their provenance.
  13. Moules-frites this evening, being as its Friday. A classic. The frites were nicer than they might have looked, (two types of potato and the first time with a new deep fryer).
  14. That's food for thought, thanks. It looks good but the permanence of the stuff would make me uneasy.
  15. Bugger! Knew I should have bought the rest of what I need to finish redoing the loft months ago before things all kicked off.
  16. Also, Horse Radish, Black Currant leaves and even young Oak leaves can all be used to maintain some crunchiness apparently..
  17. This is what I've used before;- Making Sauerkraut | Wild Fermentation :: Wild Fermentation WWW.WILDFERMENTATION.COM Resources for fermenting a vast range of nutritious and delicious live-culture foods and drinks.
  18. Did you mean pickled with vinegar or fermented, then effectively self-pickled, i.e. Sauerkraut? I've made quite a lot of the latter over the years, it's great stuff, very healthy too. You basically just soak the cabbage in salty water then leave it to do its thing for a few weeks. I can dig out a recipe if you're interested.
  19. Great ideas, both. Morocco and similar countries would do well to promote themselves on that front.
  20. Beautiful glasshouse, very Victorian. Is it original?
  21. Yet another angle is that we make loads of not so useful things from oil. They quickly break or become obsolete and then end up being burnt anyway, or dumped in the ground or sea to pollute the environment for countless generations to come. (Or in our case, in the UK; we pay other countries like China to make the crap. So we can then say "it's not us governor")
  22. You wrong'un I imagine that the problem with such niche tastes is that you quickly run out of source material.
  23. I believe plans are afoot to mount sails on some cargo ships to help reduce fuel consumption. I saw an article about it somewhere.
  24. She'd be a strong contender in the "Who's your favourite female MP" thread.
