  1. Nah, you're alright thanks. I don't think your poor abused keyboard could take it. It must be on its last legs already.
  2. Yeah I saw that too. Surprising stat that there's considerably more Redwoods here than in CA. They love our damp climate it seems, for now anyway. Giant redwoods: World’s largest trees 'thriving in UK' WWW.BBC.CO.UK A survey of giant redwoods growing in the UK reveals the trees are doing well - and growing fast.
  3. A dead quiet mower would be a good idea in that setting.
  4. Oh right. 🤷‍♂️ It's been nice a nice break anyway.
  5. Good point, there's a sht load of grp boats in the UK, and world in general. I don't suppose anyone has ever worried about how to recycle them until recently.
  6. Hello mate! Been away on your holidays these last couple of months, where you been nice then?
  7. It certainly is. At least they have some integrity, unlike the current blue party, and they have some vision, unlike the current red party. I don't know what the orange party are up to these days.
  8. Just cos the driver is showing off and it looks cool on Insta.
  9. The reduction of traffic volumes and resulting big improvement of air quality was a positive aspect of lockdowns for sure. It seems that the LTNs that came out of that are more popular than was initially thought as well. Regarding green energy; if the government can ever be persuaded to embrace it, this will be the next challenge, . When wind turbine blades get old what's next? WWW.BBC.CO.UK As more wind farms are decommissioned ways need to be found to dispose of their tough turbine blades.
  10. 6 minutes ago, Trailoftears said: They are,top price, but aside from losing them, they will tend to last forever. Certainly not cheap, but as with most tools, I subscribe to the idea of "buy once, cry once".
  11. Labour MPs have accepted over £280,000 from Israel lobby WWW.DECLASSIFIEDUK.ORG Twenty percent of Labour’s sitting MPs have been funded by pro-Israel groups or individuals – including 15 who have been... Who funds Labour Friends of Israel – and why won’t it say? WWW.DECLASSIFIEDUK.ORG LFI is one of the largest lobbying forces in British politics, but refuses to disclose its sources of income. What is it hiding?
  12. Excellent brand, Knipex. Solid German engineering.
  13. I like them because they make good firewood. Quick to grow, quick to split, quick to season, and quick, but not too quick to burn.
  14. I think fire is an integral part of the lifecycle for some eucalyptus. Might be worth building a bonfire around what's left of that tree to see if that kicks it back into life.
  15. Not remarkable trees as such but I was impressed to see such large grafted trees and how obvious the graft union is. Couple of questions. What trees are they? I suspected lime, but not very confident. Secondly, why are the grafts straight across the stem, rather than along a diagonal line across like fruit tree grafts often are? Spotted them in the middle of Coventry. A surprising end to a surprising visit. I wasn't expecting it to be so nice!
  16. Look at the size of this fcker. Golden beetroot. It seemed like it's only vocation in life was to become a hearty soup. There's half a gallon of it so that's a few easy winter dinners right there.
  17. You could have a word with these guys, they obviously got the hang of it! Torquay mass tree felling done without council permission WWW.BBC.CO.UK Torbay Council says "very serious and substantial learning has taken place".
  18. We ought to have a thread for "Worst positions to plant a tree", or something. I've seen some crackers. One is a baby, (this week!), Eucalyptus in a border a couple of feet wide that's between the pavement and the small paved over front garden of a house. Wish I'd taken a photo.
