  1. Though after reading this, maybe not. "The flavour of dandelion and burdock seems to follow a bell curve of: too sweet, horrible, really rather nice, horrible, poisonous – with the 'quite nice' occurring at the 3–4 week point and extendable by keeping it in the fridge." Dandelion and burdock beer | River Cottage WWW.RIVERCOTTAGE.NET Dandelion and burdock roots, being perennial, are available all year, but it is important to collect them only when the...
  2. I'm sold on the idea. Half! Quite intrigued to try brewing some root beer.
  3. Wordle 1,041 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨🟩 ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟩 ⬜🟨⬜🟨🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Random desperate guesses there produced a couple of words that I've never seen before. They should do a UK English version.
  4. I'm not a fan of dandelions, they're towards the far end on the good plant to annoying weed scale. What's so good about them? Got to admire their tenacity and prowess at reproduction though. They'll be one of the survivors in the barren wasteland that's left in a few years I'm sure. So children love them, (blowing the "clocks" and stuff), and you can make wine out of the flowers. I have fond memories of picking them with my grandad as a child, running around in a sea of bright yellow. Plus eating the leaves has a diuretic effect, (if that was what one wanted), hence the French name for them. What else is in their favour? Anything to do with the long tap root drawing stuff up from the depths?
  5. Was that an act of horticultural sabotage by "someone"?
  6. Some nice examples there. Interesting to see the steel bars in that hollow trunked Plane. Are they meant to be structural aids?
  7. Mate, I was only trying to engage you in a reasonable discussion on a hot topic that should be in the news, in keeping with the title of this thread. Even with your plain diet, surely you must eat some fruit and grains/seeds/pulses. Discuss;- Buglife News: Bugs Matter Citizen Science survey shows further decreases in UK insect numbers WWW.BUGLIFE.ORG.UK Read more of our latest news related to invertebrates, insects and bugs.
  8. Mate, I'm lost. You've tied yourself in a knot again here, you seem to be contradicting yourself now. How do propose that we reverse the dramatic decline in insect numbers? The UK is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. (As evidenced by the previous post). For reference, climate change and the biodiversity crash aren't the same thing. Related, but not interchangeable. You won't be able to comprehend this, but most things in the real world aren't black and white. It's entirely possible to agree with one sentiment that a person holds, whilst disagreeing with another. Lying is a strong word to be throwing around like confetti. What's gotten you into such a rage this time?
  9. Hello. And welcome back. 👍
  10. This is like getting blood from a stone, but we're getting there at least! 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ So you do believe that the plummet in insect numbers is real and it does bother you. Good. So how do you think we should tackle it? Given that it's such an important and urgent issue. 🤷‍♂️ I'm not sure why Patrick Harvie has got your goat today. 🤷‍♂️ I know nothing about him so can't comment I'm afraid.
  11. Heaven forbid we ever have a catastrophe like the fire that occured at Notre Dame. We'd have to resort to rebuilding with French or Eastern European Oak. French Oak Beams Raise Hopes for Notre-Dame Rebuild WOODCENTRAL.COM.AU When President Macron vowed to have Notre-Dame de Paris standing tall again within a mere five years, skepticism...
  12. So you're not bothered by the extent of insect decline in the UK? (76% drop in Scotland). Or do you not believe that either? Surely you must eat some fruit and grains as part of your plain diet.
  13. But what food do you like to eat? Do you remember the good old days of having to clean insect splat off the windscreen? No need to work yourself into a lather over "sick twisted individuals". Again.
  14. Does this mean that you actually hate another political party more than the SNP? Incredible! Anyway, nevermind all that. This is the kind of thing that should be Making the news today ............. Buglife News: Bugs Matter Citizen Science survey shows further decreases in UK insect numbers WWW.BUGLIFE.ORG.UK Read more of our latest news related to invertebrates, insects and bugs. That should be a front page headline.
  15. I don't suppose there's many DnB fans on here but just in case. Chase & Status - BOILER ROOM BOILERROOM.TV We joined forces with legendary Chase & Status to head up one of our Boiler Room London after-parties.
  16. Wordle 1,040 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨🟩⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜⬜🟨 ⬜🟨🟩🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 That was exhausting. I was expecting another fail.
  17. I'd have it for that money. No idea what it's like as firewood but it's a good, and cheap, chance to find out.
  18. As well as making your knickers smell sweet it also stops them being attacked by moths. Cedar is naturally moth repellent as they hate the smell .
  19. Yep. I've only ever had to use one once, for a breakdown. It was very unpleasant as you feel highly exposed. And that was a conventional hard shoulder, with no live traffic behind either.
  20. Not sure about anyone else, but the idea of taking away the hard shoulder on motorways has always made me uneasy. Not very smart at all. Claims that smart motorways tech leaves drivers at risk WWW.BBC.CO.UK Figures obtained by the BBC reveal worries about the reliability of the tech behind smart motorways.
  21. Similarly, it's possible to be a Palestinian child and not be a member or even supporter of Hamas. Meatheads of all flavours to Rwanda, what a good idea. That'd be a tiny bit of value of money at least.
  22. Haven't they gor anything better to do with their time?
