  1. Jolly good, lucky you. You seem to be oblivious to what's going on in the lives of ordinary, hardworking folk. The UK used to be a civilised country to live in, that's rapidly becoming not the case. Which bits of the word salad do you want me to cook and then puree, for easier digestion?
  2. I thought it was his wife with all the moneys? Maybe both. Yeah, it's odd that he took the job. He's definitely not from the same mould as his two predecessors. I predict that he'll very rapidly fade into obscurity in a few weeks, and not hang around for years afterwards trying to worm his way back into power.
  3. Andy's Man Club | #ITSOKAYTOTALK ANDYSMANCLUB.CO.UK ANDYSMANCLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the... We had a guy from this group come into work to give us a talk recently. They sound like the business; free, down-to-earth, no pressure, no money, no pretense, just talking about any shit, if you want to. Just a load of blokes meeting up once a week I think, to chew the fat. Not sure where you are but they have various groups all over the country, more in the north and Midlands. Other than that; pills initially to get it in check, and then hard exercise, good diet, social contact, green spaces, blah blah blah. Good luck.
  4. Wordle 1,085 4/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Solid
  5. Can you provide some better photos please? Close up of the leaves and bark etc. The shrub at the base could be contributing to the decline of the tree, but I doubt that much. It looks like a variagated Holly or Euonymus maybe. They're both tough things so you could try cutting it back hard to see if that helps the tree.
  6. Not smug Bud. I was just taken by the juxtaposition of the two understandings of the situation. You're missing the point again, by bragging about how much YOU earn. "This is how you got your arse handed to you on the other thread." - Which thread, when, how? I got a decent Wordle score of 3 yesterday!
  7. Wordle 1,084 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Happy with that.
  8. Just stick an advert on the old Covid thread. It probably protects against science and scientists as well.
  9. Brexit. We've stopped all them dirty foreign tree deseases coming over the channel now.
  10. Reckon I'd be trimming at least half of the foliage off for starters, to reduce the demand on the compromised roots for water. Edit. Just realised that I misread the question and am thinking of Privet. That's as tough as normally. I think Box is similar but I've not much experience with it so going out on a limb here. Interested to see other opinions. Don't take the first answer!
  11. Don't know what on earth you're complaining about. Some blokes are on a "sweet 20k a month gig" - it's all gravy here in World Beating Great Britain.
  12. Interesting and telling development.
  13. It doesn't appear to be detrimental though, based on my quite limited observations. The climate probably helps - short, hot, dry summers and long freakin' cold, dry winters. Not very condusive to fungi and other wood eating organisms. But that begs the question, why even bother with masonry work on trees?
  14. For these two weeks I do. I'm visiting the in-laws. Been a few times before but it never ceases to amaze me.
  15. Back on track with the painting tree trunks white derail. The majority of urban trees are treated that way here in China. The practice goes hand in hand with sealing up cavities and large wounds with concrete or mortar. Not sure the thinking behind it but it seems to work. Or maybe the tree doesn't care either way, and just gets on with it's own thing of healing up. That one even had drainage pipes built in.
  16. The maths of rightwing populism: easy answers + confidence = reassuring certainty THECONVERSATION.COM In an uncertain world our natural instinct is to seek out answers that reassure, even when they don’t make sense.
  17. Wordle 1,081 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  18. Plan C. Hang around outside a primary school. You could probably swap one for a pinch o' weed!
  19. Alternatively, an easier option would be just to just buy a vintage one. All the old English tool makers made a lot that were exported to the colonies. Proper, heavy, quality.
  20. Spring steel. Eg. From a leaf spring off a truck or an old car.
  21. You don't need common sense to make money these days. Just a fake tan, immaculate teeth and loads of arrogant BS.
  22. There seems to be some confusion about stats again. "estimated number of privately owned guns per 100 people." Estimated number of civilian guns per capita by country - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
