  1. goes with the flow Ask your self would you only ask for £xless if it took you half the time you estimaited. Common sense really if you had some one in to work for you and it was obvious the estimate was way off then be fair i certainlly would.
  2. I think travs point was and i agree with him that No one could control a full force kick back from a saw one handed! Hence why he said control a saw, yes alot of folks can be accurate and controlled one handed but if the unfore seen happens you will not stop it.
  3. I Like Trees But : they make me hot once when i cut em then in the pot
  4. I would use a rope and pulleys instead of chains, if you go to a good agri supplier you can buy a conversion kit . In the kit you would get the rope and pulleys. The difficult part of building one would be the sliding weight but not a massive task if you have access to a good steal supplier and a bit of machining.
  5. but will they do the best job :scared1:ofcourse we would !!!!!! You are quiet right John SSE would go there and cut what is neccesary to give as good a clearance as they can get from the lines, this would very rarely involve thinning the whole crown. As for moving from Bartletts to power line clearance , in the eyes of the lads they have gained in income.
  6. when you have lots of short trimmings at the end of a job and the lad pushed the last long stick through before clean up don`t use your rake handle or brush , use the blower to push trimmings into feed rollers but don`t rev blower to much!! saves your fingers and rake handles
  7. I think a bit more of a box reduction cut would be more fitting with the surrounding features I.E Shed!!
  8. I am not surprised Dean for some reason best known to them it is a massive task to set these up , yea customers have to be told and plans for staff and possible chance of redirecting power from another source but 6 months + these comps need more people organising these things. O.k John i will have a look tomorrow for you in regard to numbers P.S John is it`s not possible to do this Live?
  9. Hi John If it is in southern england below Oxford, you will need to contact Scottish Southern Energy First bit unsure which number to use but i can find out tomorrow for you. Shutdowns can take some time to set up or get through the system 6 weeks +, Is it HV or LV conductors? You will need to know exact location of span you wish to be shutdown if you have a Pole Mounted Transformer on the line this would help alot they all have names on the poles they are mounted to. Address and postcode would also be needed and i think i am right in thinking you would need someone with a C1,C2 or A qualification on site to recieve the shutdown document , unless SSE can provide this.
