  1. What prices you paying for chipper insurance:ohmy:
  2. I like the no damage bonus thats good. If you sub a climber then he wont damage your kit he has his own. The main problem is GREEDY contractors rushing subbies. You bend it you mend it would mean i would want £200 a day otherwise why risk earning sod all. And we all know no contractor will pay that so abit of double standards here.
  3. Hey that looks good useable at least. I just cant afford that much for a hobbs or grcs or just wont pay that price maybe £999 haha. Is that scaffold tube and angle iron.
  4. I agree treeline the easy part of running an arb biz is the work itself. I just would not personally work for a contractor if they wanted to use my insurance. But i do understand it from the other way round if a subbie crunched a bently id be pissed.
  5. Im in essex cud use a newbie and show the ropes but i would start on newbie pay.
  6. The difference in price between companys is amazing some quoted me several thousand no sodding way. But there are some that will give you a great price search on your own and you might come across a newish company who will offer great deals as they are attracting new business just read the idiot print lol.
  7. I have my own PL but i would never use it on a subbie job unless i was paid 50% of the job. If i am on a day rate im employed for the day and a condition i put in writing is all risk and liability is directly the responsibility of the contractor regardless of blame or fault. So all you subbies not doing this now cover your arse. Put it like this they dont give you 100% of the profit why should you be liable for 100% of the damage.
  8. I think if one of your subbies ruined a car i cant imagine them paying When i sub for a company i make a point of only doing so under there own insurance not mine other wise i would want alot more wedge.
  9. I think the guy there now is steve woodley teaching just wondered what you thought of the courses and the teaching i was told its one of the best colleges to learn from ??.
  10. tad off topic, Have any of your guys used writtle college if so what did you think?.
  11. I thought that about my one when i need a new rope. They must do it so you get a new one.
  12. I believe good company does not need to slag another off only show reasons why to buy from them. It would be a weak attempt to put someone off another competitor. How ever if another competitor is poo word will get around quick any way. After sales service is what i like.
  13. I guess your righty stevie b. The problem will always be people have different experience with different machines we are all individual and why we like one thing over another who knows. I meant no quarms just abit of banter.
  14. Yes but how will we really learn if were all to scared to voice a true opinion i take no offence to any thing on a forum it is what it is. We want a dealer to stand behind his product and prove why its a good product i think this is a great place to get that info. Yes as a group of guys we get abit tetchy but i found more info here because of the banter than any where else. IMO its bloody great we get to debate with the guys who makes and sell these products you want our money earn it guys.
  15. True and then you will need a rigging kit
  16. This was part of my point i have been very well looked after in my purchase of my first chipper TW. I have a few good arb mates who own schliesings and have been less than happy with down time and prices for repairs. The one thing i really love about schliesings is the rotor is exposed when the lids of hence easy acsses. But that pro is removed when you have to set the blades whereas TW three bolts and your away. If they were competitivly priced i would think that would make them more worth a look.
  17. Someone told me I should invest in a German chipper because they are better than all the others – including Timberwolf. OK – this is the opposite question to the one above. What is basically being said is, spend as much as you can on your chipper and you should get a good one. Don’t be fooled by the ‘made in Germany’ sticker. Not everything that comes out of Germany is built by BMW! We Brits like to assume German is best and believe the premium we are paying for a German chipper is the price for better quality. Wrong, wrong, wrong – Germany is one of the most expensive manufacturing countries in Europe and combined with this the UK customer must pay for exchange rate fluctuations that increase the imported cost of the machine (importers have to spend more £s to get the same value in Euros – who do you think pays for that?) The customer must also pay for the additional profit margins of the extra middlemen that handle the machine on its way to him (everyone wants their cut!). The regular myth of ‘German quality’ is presented to justify the extra outlay necessary to cover such high costs and can leave you paying the extra but not necessarily getting the extra quality you were expecting. Don’t believe us – have a look at how much less these machines sell for in mainland Europe! A current trend is for importers to try to hold the rising cost to the UK customer in an attempt to stay in the market by quietly doing away with support networks, leaving their customers at risk of owning a machine with no local support or backup. Be very wary of buying ‘direct’ from an importer from miles away – where do you get your backup?
  18. Always renew springs i would guess every 2 years to keep full tension. Change hydro oil and filter could have blockages. I dont agree TW fall apart seams alot of you guys dont like them but i have been so impressed with my little 6 incher it keeps going ande going and i do stick 6 inch lengths into it not a problem has very quick no stress
  19. I have the aquafell spurts. Both boots have holes where the orange bit is on the heels i have worn right through big holes after 6 months for the cost i feel pissed off. And the soles wear out super quick. This is my second pair as i returned the first they fell apart. So fortec am i eligilble for new boots or did i miss the boat on this.
  20. Dont the course supply the kit. that is gonna cost alot in one hit. kong magic helmet £90 stretchair type c £190 hiax protector etreme £177 just stihl chainsaw gloves
  21. We would all like a unimog well i would but you will never beat the price of a transit which will always rule. You can afford to fix it unlike a 7.5 tonne where you need a tacho needs alot of service plus you need hgv to drive one and where the hell do you park the fecker.
  22. I have regularly used ahern who have a weight bridge and my truck unlaiden weighs 2150kgs that is with my chip box that means i can haul 1.35 tonne i think that is adequete. On a big job two transits thats 2.7 tonne much cheaper than buying and running 1 7.5 tonner.
  23. When you compare chipper sizes almost like your penis. my ones bigger then yours syndrome lol. When you get wood for a new top handel. When your pants are full of saw chips rubbing ya balls some what nasty lol. Or ya wipe ya bum later only to find fur stuck to ya bum lol.
  24. I think im right in saying 99% of tree companies use or have use 3.5 tonne trucks its were we all started. To state they useless is just rediculous.
  25. My infeed on my timber wolf is 6 by 11 inch measured it out of curiousity. Do you think you could put nitrous in a chipper lol
