  1. That look nice. All you need is some thick metal plate with a hollow tube of the right thickness its getting a good welder to connect the two i guess.
  2. I never new a friction hitch held me in place that explains alot.
  3. I like the look of the beal bonsai 3450kgs min strength 13mm anhy one used this type of rope.
  4. Im about 85kgs so the weight bridge said lol. I just think when im up high i need a rope i can trust that is why im asking thos who do use 11mm what is the break strength. Or simply what is the daddy of the climbing ropes.
  5. My quibble with 11mm is i dont see it as a equal strenght to 13mm if it was i would use it but i feel its weaker but i have never used it hence im after your opinions
  6. I herd some schlise loving sorry no no no over priced not because they have more gear because you have to pay for the import charges etc. They have slow no stress absurdly to heavy there lightest unit is the 5 inch at what 750kgs. Which is good for sod all with its weak engine you need more power to spin heavy flywheels TW use the right combo of power to weight. I used three brand new ones and had so many problems the first broke for unknown reasons first day on trial second one ok was man error but over 1 week for repair parts and extorted prices later fixed. You need a 7.5 tonnne van to tow all there machines or you got no weight for chip stupid germans. UK market needs a UK chipper TW is for the small to medium company which is 89% of the uk arb. We need a compact chipper light with 7.5inch capacity with a 750kg tag one day we may.
  7. I always use sticky gloves so they grip any rope the same tight. I dont like 11mm just to small for my liking. Been tought on 13mm and like it. Are there pros and cons to each rope any suggestions.
  8. I like 13mm dia and length does not matter min tho 37meter.
  9. Looking for a new rope i like the best as my most expensive asset is on it my arse. Who has what why is it the bees nees and whats its ratings ie weight capacity. This should be interesting for all.
  10. My tw been going 7 years with out a fault just the usual regular oil change i change the blades every 5 days they aint expensive and it get optimum performance always i only have a tw 150 and its everything i want in a chipper a work horse. If you compare apples for apples tw is the daddy and that my old chums is the reason its the most sold used arb chipper in the universe lol. I dont wanna hump some tonne chunk of steel that pops a stress fracture every speed hump cos its to weighty. I herd some one state sclapmingers have bigger flywheels my 150 whoops the schlise equiv as tested against a freinds.
  11. We might have to go back to using a bow saw if the oil goes tits up. Yes the trees do keept growing but we keep multiplying quicker than they grow cutting down 100year old trees in a day or two. bonsai pruning is the future lol
  12. I have used all manor of tricks and found the petzl grillon to be spot on to some one who cant use it correct it will seam uncontrolled when released it just takes practice. Its lighter to imo.
  13. Been there done that got the idiot tshirt lol. oh and never eat yellow snow..
  14. Does seam like a hell of a lot of tree companies pop out here there and every where now i wonder how this will affect the future.
  15. Hey guys how do you sharpen the buckingham titaniums im guessing there a titanium alloy ?.
  16. That does look like a proper drop ya knickers moment hahaha. I have not slipped yet but im sure i will i must admit i do stomp my spikes in hard. The perills of our jobs
  17. Another way to get it up there easy is send the groundie lol.
  18. Stretch airs i had hiflex there tight i looked like an emo kid lol. Also my hiflew did not last very long weak material wears away and tears easily. Stretchs are hard wareing comfty and reliable, only let down is the oh so high price.
  19. You cant do quality jobs at cheap prices the maths and times dont add up.
  20. Loads and loads of tree workers pikeys gardeners landscapers all doing tree work. I think this industry is going to suffer in the next 18months. I would have got a job first with a company who will keep you then get your tickets. You could find it very hard. But good luck,
  21. Cheers guys for the helpful info. Is there by any chance if cheaper version of the hobbs/grcs eg just a friction bollard of sorts.
  22. Thanks for the info guys. I think 45m will be fine as mainly do trees around 60ft height very rare now i get any think near 80-90ft there all gone. When you say you use the slings do you have them on crabs then attach it to the lowering line what type of knot would you use in the lowering line?.
  23. So from what im getting guys 45m of 16mm esterlon is a good all round lowring rope for chunky lumps i might want 19mm esterlon etc. i would be happy with roughly 300kgs of weight per hit that would be a snatch weight although i will teach my groundie to allow it to run abit. Also guys out of the lowering devices what is the best one apart from the obviouse grcs and hobbs too expensive ill never get enough huge trees worth getting one. Im talking whoopie sling porta wrap etc.
  24. Hey guys just ordered some 16mm yale double esterlon lowering rope does any one know the working load. Any one on here have it how they get on with it. I am hoping this is all the lowering rope i will need got 45m.
  25. I would take a different route but with the same end. Go work for an arb company first learn the job after your first 6months to a year go for your courses you will be better equipt to pass them. Plus you will know if this is really the job for you & the company may pay for your courses result. I had to pay for my own silly expensive but well worth it.
