  1. Mick, I don't know you from Adam, but we speak from the same page
  2. If it's not coming down, don't understand the problem. Try and climb it just for the crack ?
  3. Depends on the the limb size compared to the trunk I think. If its a big limb that the tree tree has no chance of occluding then all your doing is creating a wildlife habitat I reckon
  4. That would of been "nicht den Hintern"
  5. Totally agree. Had a 576xp been back under warranty 3 times, they even did a "sonic clean" once ! Came back ok for a bit then went t@ts up every time. Got shot after their last try and fix it. Their top handled saw was crap too in my opinion, but so is the 201t unless you're a wiz at tweaking em.
  6. Obviously good climbing but madness IMO
  7. Weve moved similar size on a site 2, sometimes 3 times. Last time was last summer and hot as @@@@. Not letting them dry out between moves and aftercare - watering, they never lost one. Pretty surprised to be honest they put up with it.
  8. Love the last sentence. Seen chaps put on harnesses with all manner of things hanging off them.
  9. Agree about the 540, not up to real work IMO. The first 201's were pants too unless you started drilling holes or knew how to mod saws properly. Got a new 201 the other week but still too soon to tell whether any improvements have been made.
  10. In the tree helping from the vid. Sorry! Only joking
  11. Is it not worth a new forum titled "How do I do........" eg pricing, removal, do this, do that, sharpen a saw, wipe me butt etc.....

    Sod's law.

Agree, had real flu twice in 40 yrs, felt like the end was nigh.
  13. Heard a few stories about changes to the law with regards trailers and tachos , over 3.5 ton GTW and tachos being needed, but nothing that over rides the distance from base forestry/agriculture rule, so not needed ?
  14. We did 4 small castlewellans last week - approx 25 ft high, all went in a trailer and on a weigh bridge and weighed just under 2 ton. Sort of job youd do when you had a spare afternoon. Point being they weighed nearly 2 tonnes, were nothing to get excited about but would have put a 3.5 tonner over the weight surely? Only know the weight cos I couldnt look at the job properly, messed up and ended up milling it up in in a trailer due to not taking chipper.
  15. Sorry, realise I up for a grilling, but apart from not being tied in, PPE etc its the sort of speed a tree that small with nothing underneath should come down, esp. if youre a freelance climber. Personally, Id spear cut a lot bigger bits and 2 good groundies would handle it no probs
  16. If he was that good Id expect the cord cut off the limbs and thrown in a seperate pile. All brushwood sent down cut ready for the chipper.
  17. Top man. Youd need 4 on the ground just to keep up.
  18. Fair play for posting chap. Had 2 K wires put in my thumb the other year, now got no joint so cant bend my right thumb. All due to crap work positioning, rushing, trying to feed to blokes on a chipper and cutting and chucking with the wrong hand combined with ivy. Feel for you. Heal quick.
  19. New chassis every time with a defender - if you can afford to keep the rest working. I look at mine like triggers brush from only fools and horses
