  1. From the description the finished height combined with the width is the killer - I can see how time would get eaten up fannying around trying to not get stabbed on a job like that. However, 3 days has to be taking the piss. Definitely a flail job, if there is access then blokes shouldn’t be cutting that crap (you’d end up with a better hedge if flailed by someone half-decent too).
  2. I’m tempted to backtrack away from lime - the inside looks more Norway Maple. The union just visible to the right of the second pic looks more lime-esque though. OP - lick it all over and report back with flavour notes please…
  3. Yeah, he’s full of shit. He had a ‘right-on’ moan about Qatar but was happy to take the dosh and go over there to commentate. He’ll take money from anyone (the guy promotes junk food ffs). Bellend IMO.
  4. Just seen the pics - if the birch was also pruned by the same tree surgeon they know what they are doing, they’ve done a decent job there. Your euc definitely didn’t die because of pruning, and it was 100% the wrong place to plant that tree so the outcome was probably for the best anyway. My money is still on frost, but that could also have been killed by a disgruntled neighbour (though eucalyptus can be quite hard to kill off with glyphosate, so I’m leaning towards frost).
  5. No, you aren’t. Gunnii can be susceptible to frost damage in my experience - I’ve seen mature specimens die after particularly cold spells.
  6. Read my last sentence, I might be a long way off asking price but reckon I’m a lot closer to actual value!
  7. As soon as you start welding chassis and bulkheads to keep them on the road you are on a downward spiral - it’s time to chuck proper money at the job or get rid IMO. I see that at £6k, with or without vat. That’s an offer if you are interested, but I doubt you’ll see this as I think you have blocked me because I was dismissive towards Lycra-loving-road-hogging-self-important-peddle-pushers once upon a time and you get all offended. (And you obviously think your old Landy is worth a gazillion dollars as does every other Defender-owning masochist on the planet, as they are always advertised at exorbitant prices but bizarrely rarely seem to sell).
  8. I always wore protector pros and always found them very comfortable. However the soles kept delaminating (I had 4 pairs fail in the same way, none of which we’re old) so gave up on them in the end and wear Fellhunters now.
  9. From the pictures posted I’d suggest your issue is one of aesthetics, not tree health. Some people will like the wildness and privacy that they are subsequently afforded, others want a more manicured view. Good luck finding an acceptable middle ground - it might be easier to move to a property you don’t have to share with others though (someone in your block is going to end up unhappy in your current situation however this plays out).
  10. It’s a fair point. This was clearly the work of a bottom-feeding sub-contractor I’d suggest…
  11. Might have been, they’ve got previous!… (Don’t think so though, can’t see any yellow vans).
  12. Not had it yet! (Hope it’s not gone somewhere else…). Can you give it a chase please?
  13. You may have those tyres on the rims backwards (it’s hard to tell from the pics) - they have a thick sidewall protector on one side to ‘tolerate’ curbs etc.
  14. Did it go into a house across the road and smash a Land Rover? If so then yes, if not then no!
  15. This was in Crewe today - own up people, who done it?!
  16. Milwaukee Fuel kit is the dogs bollocks, the non-Fuel is a more budget offering.
  17. We ran one of those Mazda Rangers for years, was a brilliant truck. Rust got the better of it in the end sadly, we couldn’t kill it mechanically!
  18. What sort of money to get a skid unit blasted and re-powder coated Ashley? Looks mega!
  19. I’ve got a few sheep, started off letting a friend graze his sheep on my 4 acres at home, ended up buying 10 ewe lambs, started renting land and grazing bits here and there that customers wanted maintaining, bought another load of ewes with lambs at foot (40 odd extra ‘lives’ in total), sold/ate the male lambs, bred all the ewes and kept all the ewe lambs for breeding, ended up with approx 100 sheep/lambs etc a couple of years ago spread out all over Cheshire (which was a major pain in the arse!). Have wound it back in now to 15 ewes that have all been bred by us along with a ram I bought last year, have just turned 8 of last year’s lambs into approx. 150kg of meat that we will eat and sell (I swap some meat for grazing - FYI 6 butchered lambs just about fit in a chest freezer), have got another 17 lambs to turn into money one way or another before this year’s lambs start appearing in April. It’s good fun but there is definitely no money in it if you place any sort of value on your time. It is really nice to know that the meat in the freezer has never seen chemicals/fertiliser/antibiotics etc and had the best life possible. It’s brilliant for my kids to see/do too - both were shoulder-deep lambing during the first lockdown aged 9 and 11 which isn’t something they’d have learned at school!
  20. Everyone needs yew in their lives!!!
  21. Insurance is a strange world. A close family member crashed whilst drunk and wrote their car off (fortunately nobody else involved). They were arrested by the police and subsequently banned from driving. The insurance company paid out for their car (with full knowledge of all of the circumstances)!
  22. No - just enough to pay for a helicopter or small island, I’m not greedy.
