  8. If your invoice and shipping address are in the States and ordering from anywhere in the EU you don't have to pay VAT as it's an export (there maybe some duty though). If you are in the UK and are VAT registered and are ordering from a VAT registered supplier from somewhere else in Europe, say France or Germany for example, you simply give you supplier your VAT no. and he should invoice you for your goods and not charge you any VAT. All you have to do is remember to put the value of the goods you have bought down on your quarterly VAT return, as the supplier has to declare the sale on a form at their end. It's a bit of a fudge really by the EU to get round the fact that different countries charge different VAT rates. all the best Paul

  13. Hmmmmm Looks fake to me. If it had arced across surely it would have been in a straighter line and not an 'etch a sketch stylee' squiggle.
  14. Hi Fflint Like you I'm looking for a career change and have decided that arboriculture ticks most of the boxes, so much so that I handed my resignation in at my current job today so I can go to college to do the National Award in Arboriculture and pick up as many NPTC / Lantra tickets as I can and get as much practical experiece as possible while I'm having a 'career break' studying. I think Laz is right IF you wanted to remain a climber until you picked up your pension. I worked in construction equipment sales for a while and it was exactly the same there - if you stayed around too long someone younger and hungrier who was willing to go the extra mile for a little less was always on your heals. However as Rupe says IMHO a careers what you make of it. I know it's going to be tough (I'm old enough to have worked through the last recession in the early '90's) but its like most things what you get out is a proportion of what you put in.
  15. Gooogle for me. Want to know when you are starting Arbtalk Anonymous as reading the forums very addictive.

The Olympics (or t'lympics as they call it round here). Love or hate it it's on for the next fortnight. Are you going to watch it and whats your favourite event ? Mines either womens beach volleyball (but don't tell the missus) or one of the track events.
  22. Don't worry I'll be back to finish it off next week when I've got a bigger set of step ladders and an extension cable for my chain saw from B & Q.
