  1. never prune any tree which is in flower is my advice. the amount of grief you get for that is unbelievable even when the darn thing has fallen over
  2. always burnt wood in the stove so never smelt the fragrances
  3. its a guy who wants to be a tree surgeon but is not qualified (and no intention of either) and was trying to do what he thought was best in his un-educated way and got caught. its a shame it was'nt a dodgy pikey, take your money and run...sorry about the greenhouse luv, be back tomorrow, never seen again type
  4. willow.. thats intresting.. i'll have to burn some now to see that. i find willow dries quick, burns fast, but burns hot hot hot. fruit wood only good for open fires, or if you have a stove, its only the passers by outside that get the scent:001_tongue:
  5. dont know mate, but there could be several variables in the chimney fire senario........just know that no customer of mine has ever had one off my f/wood and thats the most important thing to me i'll burn fresh wood at home but i will always burn the fire hot for 20 mins to burn off whats uo the chimney.... i always feel if the stove glass has burned from black to clean then the chimney is too
  6. i may beg to differ that answer. have found that branch wood will contain a lower mc than the trunk in the winter and more water in the trunk again when the sap begins to rise. also the state of health of the tree has an affect on the mc and the ease of splitting ability especially if cankered.
  7. have a customer who only uses me now for his f/wood (dry) as was sold wet ash on 2 previous occasions by a.n.other and suffered a serious chimney fire.
  8. its a company from abergavenny by all accounts foord! but not as bad as it could've been, but james pinder from newport cc is the tree office matt.... you did work experience with daves crew who show it right in tredegar park we've not seen it yet but been told its only a small bit in tredegar park
  9. actually it is not. the ash is of the same genus as the olive tree and both contain oil within the wood which helps the wood to burn. same principal as resin within conifers if you put another species of wood with a moisture content similar to fresh ash (which can be higher than 39% by the way) there will be a noticeable difference in burn
  10. well said my man i burn wet wood in my stove when it is kicking out some fierce heat to help cool it down a bit, otherwise we have to leave the room and thats when the dampers are closed too
  11. lime dries quite quick and will burn well with a higher moisture content than recomended. gives off fantastic heat when dry too. i burn all woods now....... why waste a heat source by chipping it all:001_cool:
  12. for the non technical and nieve
  13. hey buzz what you doing now then if you are redundant?

  14. bloody hell dean!!! have you met my future mother in law then...lol
  15. america... "stop! or i'll shoot, you mother f**ker" Britain...."stop! or i'll say stop again please" no wonder crime pays over here
  16. forget it mate, you ned a better one than that. fuelwood used to sell a good one................ big buks though
  17. i;ll take some pics for you of an easier way
  18. i thought so, just wanted cofirmation though
  19. how do you fill the bags???
  20. so how would you fill and handle the bags?
  21. just storage for me. but the could be delivered i suppose, will need to lift from the pallet though
  22. if i had the time i'd do the job for you for the chance to go shooting:001_smile:
  23. easy to repair too. just need some wire you try repairing a vented bag
  24. i use fridge magnets, they are good for several reasons 1 stick to fridges and kids play with them 2 stick to cars.... great when i b+q carpark and someone is walking towards their car with trolley full of firewood, just walk past car and stick one to it 3 they stick to some letterboxes 4 stick to lamposts and you'd be supprised at how many people will see it and then take it home
  25. what would you want h/c timber for????
