  1. Hi welcome to the site. Your wood spirit looks very good to me!. Lime is a great wood to carve and so is Hazel, Poplar is also very easy to carve and good for large bowls. Birch is very good to carve and graet for Kuksas and spoons. The fruit woods are good Apple Plum and the like, tougher to carve but they finish very well either with the knife or sandpaper. The flexicut tools are suposed to be good tools, I have never used them so cant give you my opinion. What sort of things are you looking to carve? if its things like wood spirits you can get cheaper tools until you feel the need to splash out on the flexicut as they are expensive. Simon

    Davetaz is right its for carving not chopping, it would be funny to see how long it would last with a piece of knotty Oak and a large Gransfors splitting axe:biggrin:

    Saw this, not too sure if its been posted but the view looks stunning! what a place to work!!
  12. Scary stuff, interesting to connect to the central ring though, I've had a Beech limb split downwards past my wirecore which tried to crush me to the stem, luckily it fell out of the strop releasing me.

    Your right about the half hitch, what I meant about the running was to use it in forks on Eucalyptus rather than the timber, also the running is good to throw out rather than climb out further:001_smile: and pull it tight.
