  8. So how about my 08s is that a manual oiler or automatic and would it be 25/1. This might sound silly but someone gave me this saw and in 1965 i would have been 3 LOL.
  9. No. But to be fair the oldest indian chestnut i have is only 30-40 years old the nuts were brought back from a holiday where they come from.
  10. Where can i get a tachoand how much would one cost charlieh:001_smile:
  11. Thats where i bought my wood processor from freddy bugg over at statford. I think his family were fairground people. I am burning cedar of lebanon at the moment a lovely flame but yes it does spit.
  12. Thanks mate, i have an elm tree similar to the beech in pic 1.
  13. Thanks guys this is very interesting. The two beech are very near a road so i need to do the right thing. Two points i am thinking about is the first tree has some wounding which has sealed with new wood but something caused it. it may be water has got in old pruning wounds and the core has gone soft and has some type of fungal activity but there are no fruiting bodies. or there is a ditch beside these trees and it is full to the top with water and as we know beech hate water so there may be a root problem.

    Wind

We had a strong wind here a couple of years ago and it gave me three months of hard work clearing it all up. i don't mind but everything else goes behind.
  16. There was article in a mag about a year ago, a wildlife trust were working in a wood and they were using a chipper as woodchip rots in a few months brash takes years. anyway there is a very rare toadstall which has not been seen for years called the magpie toadstall and it came up all over the woodchip piles as man with his chipper had reproduced the deadwood habitat missing in a lot of woodlands.
  17. The wind has just arrived in suffolk it is roaring like a lion in the big oaks:001_smile:
  18. Interesting what you say about woodchippers in 2001 HSE condemed my 10 inch entec as it was gravity fed with no stops. I wonder if jonsie does spares for the 08s haha:001_smile:
  19. It is indead a 08s I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO CLEANING IT AND SEEING IF IT WILL RUN. there were some nice pics and a video of them on google.
  20. Who told you i was a man i could be a wo-man LOL:001_smile:
  21. Sorry to join in on this thread you two seem to have something going on:001_smile:
  22. Tony is spot on with his comments. I think you will find that any landowner or land agent can check his own tree stock and he can get any of his employees to check trees, when they spot a fault or see fruiting bodies then they call in arb inspector to look at things like tree health vigour of leaves twig growth look for wounds are they sealing over and maybe a picus then in comes the tree sugeon to do the work. Ido not think there are many estates in this country that does not use this system or similar and this is about all they could afford IMO.
  23. Ibet they have got some good wines in there 2 cellars i wonder if they would give me a good bottle as a good employee:001_smile:
  24. Cheese and wine party that will do nicely.
  25. Thanks for that it sounds like it might be the one.
