  2. Hi All, I'm in need of a picus test on a large willow at a school in Essex asap , can you pm me with your rate please and availability . Tests Required : 1 at ground level 2 Just below where the stem divides (roughly 6ft from the base ) Thanks in advance .
  3. Asked about the issue at the briefing, Mr Hancock said people whose jobs has not already been shut down by the government measures to date should continue to work but should only be travelling to a workplace "where that work can't be done at home". He said construction workers - many of whom work outdoors - could and should continue to go to work as long as they are able to remain two metres apart at all times. What do you all think of this latest statement from the Home Secretary ?
  4. Two of us are in the same family, the customer says they will stay indoors and pay by bacs tomorrow, should we go ? After reading your comments I’m not as sure as I was??‍♂️
  5. What gets me in all of this is an average 3 man team like ours has three climbing kits ,and one rescue kit . If you add three extra ropes and three more climbing set ups etc . Financially that’s already hurt , then loler checks for the new kit , then replacement costs then extra time to do each tree with the new system ......it’s actually far more viable / safe / cost effective for us all to close the company and go window cleaning in the south east! BUT WE DONT WANT TO DO THAT AS WE LOVE THE JOB . Good small units will be priced out of this industry If we follow every piece of legislation. ( I’ve been climbing since 1998) and find that most accidents happen on the ground)
  6. They can steal our gear but they won't have the skills to use them properly ! Sorry for everyone whose had stuff nicked on here and thanks for the tips to help secure our gear/vans etc,
  7. Thanks for the replies , yes it seems far too easy these days with youtube etc showing how to do it , I just can't get over how quiet they were !
  8. Hi all , I don't post on arbtalk as much as i should but wanted to let you all know that our family business ford transit double cab tipper was stolen during the night with 4 climbing kits on board and some hand tools. The tipper is high sided in green with Height and Light signs on both sides. I don't know how they took it without the keys? I am insured but this will still be a massive pain to sort out! Please let me or the police know if you see it , thanks everyone, Pat Osborne 07962151121 Im based in Waltham Abbey , Essex , this is my only family income!

  10. Hi, can I just ask if any of you out there use google maps or Google earth to provide an overhead view for planning purposes. Its just that ive just been refused from applying for tpo work in this way anymore (welwyn) as they say i need an os license . Is this really a new feature that we all need to be aware of? Interesting.....
  11. Thanks Guys, interesting to note similar problems. At least it has given me some points to take to the dealer.
  12. Hi all, can I have some advice please. At the arb show in Gloucestershire last year I purchased a Predator F350/14,the build quality looked good and I,ve used various grinders over the past 20 yrs. Within a couple of weeks the rubber stone protectors began to tear and come off, then the rubber engine mountings failed so belt tension couldn't be carried out! Thirdly the fold down stand kept falling down on its own impeding the grinding process. Fourth, the throttle wouldn't stay open(checked the spring ...not that). Finally this week the exhaust literally broke apart and fell off! The machine has probably done an absolute maximum of 30 hrs. Predator run a multi tip wheel on these ,are they too vicious My questions are : Has anyone else had issues like these with this model? What would you do in my situation? What should I expect when contacting predator?

  16. Just a quick one ,we partly opened up this lovely beech yesterday and found an ominous dark staining with small sticky smelly scabs.....no fungal brackets etc...my first reaction is Phytopthora what do you think guys and apart from mulching would you touch the tree which is looking good at the moment? In my opinion any crown reduction no matter how small will needlessly put extra stress on the tree.

  18. I hear you but no fruiting bodies found or evidence of fungal invasion ?? I want to put a photo on here ,how do I do it??
  19. I was called to look at this purple plumb this week which has suddenly lost foliage and started splitting everywhere longitudinally with the growth twists. Obviously the tree has stopped functioning quite rapidly, but what could be the cause, there are other trees of the same species in close proximity which are doing well. Are there any known problems with these species at the moment?/ Thanks in advance, Pat
  20. I know that they've just completed an inventry on our pile but don't know why they asked??

  22. Good deal on the new narrow access Predator 14hp stump grinder ,£2800 plus vat with a pedestrian guard thrown in.(two sold within the hour,I had one of them). Much better machine than the Husky
  23. I'm jumpy at the moment...had an attempted break in to my garage last week(waltham Abbey)... Keep a look out everyone especially if the manage to evict that well known camp near Basildon
