  1. We have a substantial conifer line to come out near Haverhill , could any biomass boys out there please get in touch regarding whole tree chipping , not sure I want to chuck it all through the tr8 and am sure it’s of value somewhere .
  2. Stubby , I've got an old d22 also 190k on it . The turbo went the other day at the same time as the mot and had to think twice however by far the most reliable motor I have ever owned . used daily still for logging and not had an easy paper round but i do have a soft spot for it . As for D40's great trucks and go like the clappers , mines due for a change now and thinking ranger 3.2 as I've had a few issues .
  3. Were they overground or underground ? bugger all the same . Making good use of things that they find ?
  4. Got more than enough here if you want to pop up with a trailer , can load with a tractor no worries
  5. A lot of this is down to luck/contacts also , who you went to school with , who you've been drinking with ect , some companies will wine and dine managers an QS's or people handing out the work in many different ways smaller companies just can not . Boxes at football or other sporting events . All above board and just the way it is .
  6. Do you tow with yours often , how does it cope with chippers , was thinking just the quad chip and 6inch tracked or is this pushing it a bit .
  7. How to people get on with these ? really looking to add one to our fleet .
  8. I saw two lads in a car going down the M6 and the wipers on their car had broken and they had tied string between the wipers and string to each end and had a pulling sequence going on , bloody genius i think .
  9. http://www.familytreecare.com.au/ try these for sure , Nick is an old mucker , great climber for sure in his day , was out with him last year when he was over for a pint or 10 and looks like he has it sorted there ?
  10. http://www.biofuelchipping.co.uk try these guys , helped us out. 750hp chipper makes the rest look pretty tame .
  11. http://www.blaketraining.co.uk/level-3-award-in-the-thorough-examination-of-arboricultural-equipment-loler
  12. Due to an increase in work load we are looking for more team members , interesting varied work , 70/30 commercial and domestic mix. Get in touch for more info
  13. I'm looking for a digger 2.7 ton or so for towing to operate a log grab and flail . Zero tail swing seems to be the most available but seems to me of lifting logs then surely a counterbalance is a better idea . I've driven machines a little but will be a learning curve and for the use we want it for training will have to be done . Any advice from you guys that have used these machines gratefully received .
  14. Don't know whats happening down here then , they approached their underwriters to ask and it was a certain no . Was possible if I held enough other insurance through them (farm ect) but we've only got the chippers and a bit of tool insurance with them . Fairly sure it is going to sting the bank balance a bit but the benefits outweigh that .
  15. Thanks Bob , wouldn't have even thought of them ?
  16. Can any of you arbtalkers point me in the right direction . I insure 2 4x4 and 2 tippers and soon to be another box van . I employ 2 lads of 18 and 19 currently on a part time basis and soon once they are released from college full time . These lads are really capable and great team members and really need them to be able to drive the vans , my insurance is up for renewal and the nfu will not even entertain under 25s. Any help with who to go for gratefully received .
  17. I like these , it's the tree that made me decide to go for it in business . Might dig out some pre digital got what I think are nice ones
  18. It was on a 130hp so my thought were it needed a bit more . As for a birds nest It was pulled apart with a 14 tonner and dropped by the infeed , might seem like double handling but deadlines for felling and all that . In hind sight I would have got this one in from the off , filled the first artic in 20 minutes
  19. We had a heizohack in which I think needed more power , took 2 days to chip what's in the pic , which to be fair the lads didn't want to do with the tr8
  20. Its spoken for now thanks , not worth milling though
