  1. I was climbing on a job recently with Lewis as one of the groundsman. From what I saw I reckon he'd be an asset to anyone’s team. Keen to learn and prepared to graft. Lewis, get your license sorted! Far more opportunities available then.
  2. No lid :confused1: Got to be the last piece of PPE I'd drop.
  3. They've tried it on with me and also not long after I had set up business. If in doubt, google them! It probably saved me a few quid
  4. They have my support
  5. Thanks log supplier
  6. I may need to hire a long-handled hedge trimmer and a small set of ladders/scaffolding next week. Are there any Glasgow based arbtalkers who could point me to a good, reasonably priced hire shop in the city, preferably near Bearsden.
  7. lol, it does read that way!! I'll try again... Is OPM still a southern problem. Have there been any reports of it spreading north, and if so does anyone know just how far it may have reached?
  8. Thanks Janey. Whilst we are at it, BTM?? Is this still a southern problem only?
  9. And lots who don't yet know, myself included:confused1:
  10. This may interest some of you. iplayer programme, James Aldred climbs 'Goliath'. BBC - BBC Radio 4 Programmes - James and the Giant Tree I hope I've not missed this being posted previously?? Enjoy (Can I also add, if anyone knows where this tree is, to consider not disclosing it's location openly on this site. Thanks.)
  11. I doubt you'd find better
  12. I presume you've not downloaded these yet?? Untitled Document Untitled Document Should help if not:001_smile:
  13. The latest addition to the 'hitchclimbers guide' was posted on here recently, try searching for it in the search tab at the top of the screen.
  14. Hi Janey. There is a post adverrtised on arbjobs for a UK - Tree Officer/Contract Manager S.E. London. May help?
  15. This happened on an 8 inch PTO Jensen I was working with a few years ago:scared1: If I remember rightly we didn't find much of the blade.
  16. Your inbox is full Mick

  17. Cheers skyhuck. I struggled to find any meaningful info on the EA site yesterday. I've come across this page, really needed to find it a couple of days ago. Somebody had posted the info it gives in the previous WCL thread but I find it helps to see it on the EA site in person. Hope it helps anyone else who has struggled with this. http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/static/documents/ps005_2077240.pdf Or is it just me??
  18. Rupe are you using this as part of the Frog Walker system? And thanks for the pic.
  19. I recently e-mailed the chair of the woodturners club, (don't qoute me on the actual name of the organisation, google it) offering them a similar amount of Yew. Seem to remember they were too far from me to be interested, i'm sure they are nearer you.
  20. Skyhuck, I read through the previous lengthy 20 page thread about WCL yesterday and your stance on this is pretty definite. I'm very interested to know if you have come to your decision on what is deemed waste by info you have gathered from the EA directly or if it is common sense you are relying on (which it appears the EA may not be working with in this case:confused:). Have you applied for a licence under an exemption?
  21. Yes, the Frog Walker system i'm looking at uses a Croll chest ascender. I shall have a wee look at Rupe's post. An old inner tube sounds far more appealing than a new chest ascender. I have a concern about the distance between the chest ascender and the handled ascender above. I'm sure i've read recently that the lower the croll the better.
  22. I plan to start using SRT quite soon as a means of access into the tree (frog walker to be more specific). I'm currently using the Tree Magic which I really rate, and if possible will keep using for some time yet. I'm aware of Edelrids Access Top-Vario chest harness which seems the obvious choice due to the harness it will be combined with. It does however not look like it physically attaches to the TM so perhaps could be substituted with Petzl's. Does anyone have any thoughts on the use of the TM as a SRT (access) harness and the combination of the two mentioned above??
  23. I would like to hear from new starters/ground staff/climbers looking for work in N.Wales. As and when work arises I may have the need for extra manpower. PM me with any relevant information about yourselves please (tickets, experience etc) Craig
  24. Hi folks, I have various pieces of kit for sale (non-arb related) on ukclimbing.com and also the tent you see there is now on ebay (though not for any less £). It needs a good home as it won't see any use from me for a while. If you are going to make me offers make them sensible please You should find the kit here: http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=336868 and also here:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=190281227100 Thanks for looking Craig
