  12. That's a usefull bit of kit, are you wanting to replace that with a U400 / U500 with similar set up?
  13. We've had a Vermeer 352 for 7 or 8 years and we love it, plenty of grunt, productive and very reliable. We got a 70-15 a few years ago when we started doing large scale removals in parks and highways, the extra power, tracks and remote control make all the difference when you have larger scale sites. We have put more aggressive mini-digger type tracks on it as it tended to slide around on slopes. The vermeer still does around 80% of the domestic works though.
  14. I'm up for a reunion any time you like mate, next time your up give me a shout and we'll have a catch up over a pint or two in Durham (like the good old days). I might be able to sort some work out for as well so you can make a working holiday if you like.
  15. Well done Sven, inspiring stuff, glad to see your as motivated and as enthusiastic as ever!
  16. I've been doing the North of England Enduro Championship (Timecards) and NEXC (Hare and Hounds) for the last 10 years or so. I'm only an average clubman rider but as others have said it is addictive when you start racing and you just want to be on the bike whenever you can. Camphill was on last weekend near Bedale which is always a good race and it didn't disappoint again. I've just started doing trials in the last few years, Mainly Buttsfield and Knitsley Mill near Consett which is good cheap fun, and great for balance. If you want local MX practice then South Tees is probably the best bet.
  17. I had a fair few gassers from 01 - 08 and they were great to ride but had build quality issues, (plastics mainly) which meant re-sale value was a bit of a problem. I went to a KTM because the bike came up at the right price and now i quite like it. I'm lucky to have Graham Charlton motorcycles on my doorstep, GG, Beta etc. Walker was supposed to be a promising trials rider who had a go at enduro, (extreme enduro) enjoyed it, did well at it and got a decent offer from KORR (Julian Stevens), now he's in the RED BULL - KTM factory line up all within a couple of years so fair play to him. I bet Taddy Blazusiak is now a worried man!
  18. Jarvis was robbed (again) in Erzberg, Jonny was very good and got a cracking start (Jarvis ended up in pile up on the first hill and was 4 mins down in 7th place by the 2nd checkpoint) so had a lot to do to catch up. He's a way better technical rider than Walker but Walker will only get better whereas Graham is getting older haha: I've been to Erzberg a few times but this year was the worst time ever, basically someone carried out an extensive risk assessment and put a stop all the things that made it a great event. I'm with you on the KTM250 2 smoke, have been the last 3 years but think i'll go for a berg or gasgas 300 at the end of the year.
  19. I think the red bag had his knackers in it, they must be huge!
  20. It's a crying shame about Houghall, and that I didn't stop to take any pics of the 3 big beeches in Darlington. 2 big crane jobs and one BIG MEWP one. You can't really take any chances with Meripilus as bad as those. Speaking of misfits, we ground a stump for Mr. Blench the other week, he's in fine fettle as you would expect! Keep up the good work and discussing climbing systems I have no idea what your taking about. WTF is an SRT / spiderjack, on the rare occasion I climb I have to dig out the old 3 strand and tie my knots like in the bad old days. Regards, Steve
  21. Stop reminiscing about the good old days 'Sven'! although 95 - 96 was one of the best years of my life and a bit of turning point for me. I wonder what most of the people that were on our course are doing now? regards, Steve
  22. I like that, is the trailer a tipper or did you just push it off? We had a mobile crane lift an 8 tonne lump of beech onto our old bolster trailer and when we got it back it took our hi-ab and the telehandler just to push / drag it off. We then used it a retaining wall for 5 years before cutting i tup for firewood. Steve
  23. Hi Steve Thanks for posting pics, I don't want to de-rail Chris's thread on his very nice new mog, (and a bargain by the sounds of it. I think our Valtra would go onto that trailer (just)
  24. I like the trailer especially as I need some thing I can put my Valtra with roofmount on, but don't want an artic unit, so it needs to be drag trailer really, and the lorry needs to be fairly compact, that's why I thought your 6 wheeler with steering / lift axle was just about right. I've also been taking to Global about a large tracked machine (having a demo on Monday from them) and need something to move it around if I go ahead. I know what you mean about mog running costs, we run a couple of 7.5's and have had a 26 tonner in the past and I have to say our 2 mogs are fairly cost effective in comparison. The lack of an MOT will save a couple of grand a year at least. The thing with a lorry like your's is you can always get additional hire work when it's not busy doing your own stuff.
