  1. A higher IQ would have been better still ? K
  2. @josharb87 was my earlier point , working on banks or uneven ground kills the lads , even a small crane is a godsend - only in Rail you have Overhead line considerations to avoid . Stacking timber in lengths without Manual Handling issues is a big Plus for us as client is always shouting abt it . K
  3. May just get sorted of the astonishing shithole that is Stonebridge ( 2 miles from Wembley - another astonishing shithole of rank depths ) K
  4. Hilareous NHS supplier investigates employee's conspiracy video WWW.BBC.CO.UK A video of a health worker who questioned the existence of Covid-19 went viral in conspiracy communities. K ( got to be fifty shades of fuccying stupid darling - good luck on the jobhunt )
  5. Two huge offices near Stonebridge - empty fr years ( and I do mean big ! ) now getting converted . Developers focused on brownfield sites near Rail stations fr City communters - now no one is using trains ....... Hmmmm . K Actually , for once , fulfilling the recommendations on builders carbon footprint , rework old structures is enviromentally better thaan new builds - It took them two weeks to scaffold , then in with the diamond concrete saws n new windows - 3 months - bet its finished by Christmas - Unlike Grenfell
  6. Abt 15 stone then.... Wont be putting my wages on that whippet then ? K
  7. You said that abt Lion Taming..... Look where that ended up ? K
  8. Actually it was a bit of a test, the verifier from Kennilworth knew this guy was hopeless, just wanted to see how we handled failing him. Didnt feel good abt doing it but he wasnt safe and would have hurt himself or someone else soon after. K
  9. He aint gonna be rich from that. But handy cash. K
  10. Mr @Stubby , buying in wood for processing with a good machine can be easier that sorting thru a lot of old crap . Plus you get wot you want . If yr going over a 100 ton a year , I think it would give a good return . Mostly a good yard manager would have the lads sort the arb logs out n log them up befr knock off time - IF he can flush them out of their hiding spots in the laybyes ..... K
  11. Go back and take a picture with the light on K
  12. Really? If an incident were to happen from said activities and you were not trained to use a saw from a bucket/mewp, it would not be a problem? Is why I ask . Yr doing same tension compression cuts with saw from bucket as you do on ground . You pass a Mewp ticket . Yr doing aerial cutting . K
  13. Cheers Paul, my thinking being if yr groundsaw felling competent, with MEWP ticket, then rear handled saw plus silky will give useable aerial work whilst climber is otherwise occupied - against the costing of it all. MEWP tickets are cheaper than climbers tickets. Reiterating I am still no fan of mewps ? K
  14. So Paul, my understanding is if yr stood in a MEWP, yr groundsaw ticket use is acceptable ? ( not top handled ) K
  15. @Jamie Jones a good point, MEWP work is totally different from climbing Arb ( I struggle with mewps ) so would ordinarily not choose them unless a line of street tree lifts or similar. K
  16. Yes ? don't bust it ! Want to see it next time ? K
  17. All of the above, take yr time n think it thru. He wants you safe ( I did fail one guy cos he was a blatant idiot who had not a clue an was on to make up numbers ) k
  18. Mind that bracken ? K
  19. Global Recycling did us a recon 12" Bandit on tracks fr abt 60 grand, was good as new. Bolting on a crane would not be more than nother 20 grand, if one was to enquire. K
  20. Noooo Oooo ( an I like Green mech ) k
  21. From memory, not starting saw properly, not remembering legal constraints, incorrect unsafe change of anchor point, cutting above yr head, fast descent, swing more than 2m, leaving fly unzipped....usual stuff you see on every Arb site ? K
  22. Jeremy Barrell, he is fab ( and dear ? ). K
  23. @PeteB did a couple of sites in Essex for Bellways, where that machine would have made all the difference, just on handling timber. Flat sites too. Only concern would be the weight of machine on wet ground. Flail mulcher head on a 360 wasn't a lot of cop. Crashed it down fine but then there is the dealing with the arisings. Depends on wot they want the site to look like, after. K
  24. Sounds like you answered yr own question- the TO sounds a good type, I would err over its actual age but if they confirm it's predating the houses, it's a cracking tree to retain. Possibly flag up its value in yr community / social media group and promote retention. House insurance is there to pay for shortcomings in build and aging, without seeing the soil data and a site visit I couldn't advise on potential heave and it's consequences but the insurers job is to get an expert it to solve the issue with the buildings. K
  25. I would view it as a healthy veteran Oak of substantial value, ecologically and historically ( from report) the structural inadequacy of the properties have an engineering solution ( underpinning, root barrier, pipe sleeving , etc ) confirm TPO and let insurers and utility pay. K
