  1. Correction, £3900 Spectrums offer. The price I gave was the list. Ty
  2. No, I am not missing the point at all. I'm very serious about my grinding. Yes it's easy to swivel. It is not easy to move around though in a pile of soft chips so you need to be constantly stopping to rake the ground level. Plus I watched the FSI Rep and the local dealer lift it out of a pickup, I'll give that a miss thank you, it weighs 125kg. I had a decent demo of this machine as I was looking to buy another small but efficient grinder that I could easily move on my own and use for those stumps the 4012 couldn't reach. What I found was that it was simply far too light on the nose and too few hp to take a decent bite out of the stump. Now I could have been tempted but for the price, which is expensive for the money a 13hp grinder can generate making it harder to repay the investment. I think the threshold for effective and productive grinders is around 18hp with 27hp really a good power to weight to productivity ratio. Ty
  3. Yes, had a demo on a decent sized cherry stump. What would have taken a 27hp HB20 20min took me 60min with this 13hp devil. I can see it would be good for conifer hedge stumps and the odd smaller/hard to get at stump but the price is just far too high for such low output. Spectrum quoted £4380+vat. (5000euros+vat) It's sold for even more here in France where the dealer wanted 7259euros+vat which is the on the road price of a Dacia Sandero. Oh how I did laugh to see the French rep screw his face up at the U.K quote:001_rolleyes: Although for me, it's a big NAH! It is well made and light enough for a big bloke to rag around but I'm a weedy 62kg and after an hour of fighting the machine and stump I was glad to hand it back. Just too small an engine and too light to bite into the stump. Also too expensive to easily make back the coin invested. With such a light machine you really need to use sharp teeth ALL the time. Ty
  4. What would a running 084 in good nick be worth? I understand it is liked for it's low revs for milling. Ty
  5. One thing I learned recently. Our 084 didn't oil well at all and no amount of pumping would change it. THEN... our saw mechanic noticed that the sprocket was lacking the 2 pegs on the clutch drum which engage the oil pump. We had been supplied a sprocket for an 088. HBros supplied the correct sprocket and now all is well. Ty
  6. Excellent, I wish there was a LIKE button. Cheers lads. Ty
  7. Is that what you made your thong with? Ty
  8. Hello, What is the material used for these? Is it 'conveyor belt' ? At a loss for what to ask for. I may need to take a bit off to use as a sample I guess. Ty Oh and I'm not lowering myself asking Lemon Plant parts dept. either damn their eyes... They'll want the part number, year of machine, serial number of the air in the tyres and still won't be able to give a straight answer... Ty
  9. I've a weakness for 'Noix du Porc' Ty
  10. Hah! We had a visit from the inspector of works. They where more interested in our toilet facilities (wood chip pile) than any H&S... Vive La Libertie de France! Ty
  11. Hey Reg, Do you get do any old fashioned pruning like with birches and oaks or is it all 45m conifer take downs? Regards Ty
  12. Starters Mushrooms in a brown sauce. Main Pork cheeks and french beans. Cheese board Dessert chocolate mousse. I had a glass of red watered down with lemonade. 12.50euros all in. Ty
  13. I keep a cyclocross bike at our place in Essaouira Morocco. This September I escaped the family and ignored their dire warnings about traveling alone by bike and rode down the coast to Agadir then up to Taroudant and ffrom there up into the Atlas mountains for a couple of days before descending to Marrakech and a bus home. I put a 5spd hub gear in for simplicity and a sturdy rack. Important to carry at least 3 litres of water and up to 7 if heading towards the Sahara region although there are many places to buy bottled water you can always ask at any house for a refill. You may get a feed too! Ty
  14. Whilst France is hardly what I'd term 'emigrating', I have achieved far more here than back in the U.K. I'm an easy day travel back to Portsmouth but it might as well be 4000kms as I only visit twice a year if that. Now married, 2 kids and a healthy business, it never crosses my mind to return to live in the U.K. I miss 'Home' though... I miss my family of course, cycle club runs, friends, tea rooms and pubs on a Sunday. But life here is good and the U.K remains a place for holidays only. Ty
  15. We very rarely have over an hour either. The 2 hour 'paid' lunch break is a total myth. Meals eaten in the worker canteens/restaurants are tax deductable and low vat but as most expat run small businesses are unable to claim costs against turnover they have little interest in eating in them. Ty
  16. I pay no-one over lunch breaks, neither staff nor sub-contractors. However, lunch is on the company and most days it is a 4 course sit down restaurant meal with choice of wine, cider or lemonade. Special menu/price for workers around 12euros all in. It is traditional in France for companies to provide lunch for employees. Most Brits can't handle it at first and would prefer to have 20min sitting in the cab but they soon come round to the French way of thinking. Ty
  17. We could have ordered an all alloy body but the cost was very high for 200 kg won. Ty
  18. We've a 7t Iveco with high alloy sides on a steel tipping bed. Tool box behind cab. Holds 9m3 on paper but on reality you chip 8m3 into it. Payload is 3.5t Fully loaded with 3 guys, tools and chip we remain legal. Ty
  19. He caught his Prince Albert in the brash...the cock. Ty:laugh1:
  20. Mondays... Ty
  21. I like a bit of beef... You still on 'GrindR'...? Send me a photo of you bare chested astride your machine and I'll send you one of me wearing just my tight leather shorts and a dishwasher fresh Petzel helmet astride mine. Ty
  22. LIKE Ty
  23. Luck? [ame] [/ame] Ty:biggrin:
  24. Well done, I wish I had started at your age, I'd be either rich or dead by now...ha ha ha! Ty
  25. Right, update and a result. I've just returned from almost 3 weeks away in Morocco to find that the fault (which is intermittent) cannot be traced by the dealer. As a result, I have had today, a visit from Guillaume Turner, head of G.M France and grandson of the founder of G.M. Guillaume has agreed to an exchange of the 190 for a new 200 model which should arrive in... 8 weeks. The 190 will return to the U.K for analysis in the workshop. Now that is a weight of my shoulders and an excellent gesture from G.M. Aftersales is the main reason I stay with G.M. Being able to call up the factory direct for advice from the mechanics is invaluable. Looking forward to this season again as this issue was lowering my spirits somewhat. Shame Orange Plant don't take a leaf out of G.M's book of customer care... (refering to a previous issue with a used Carlton 4012 grinder back in 2014) Ty
