  1. And also it because you have nothing to chip into of course:001_rolleyes: Ty
  2. Well, I enjoy tree work and I enjoy NOT actually being in the trees even more. I'm already in my dream job being on the ground, quoting and managing my team. Having said that, I'd like to try my hand at writing. A light hearted book about life in France made up of dozens of individual life stories from the many people I know here. Ty
  3. Are the Stein products 'patented'...? Is the name protected? I think for such small beer there will be no fight worth the money. There just isn't the money there. Ty
  4. Whew! I'm not alone:001_rolleyes: Ty
  5. Hmmm... I've replaced 2 of these and have now given up! Our chipper just rattles and bangs about behind us. Trailer experts AND the chipper manufacturer have all told us that it is 1. French roads 2. Our driving style... yeh right:thumbdown: Ty
  6. Well... This certainly an excellent machine. Quieter than a 2012 Quadchip and the chip with 4 blades is much finer. Alot of fine particles drop beneath, far more than with our Quadchip. Ty
  7. Your Missus must make you a big sandwich then! Ty
  8. I think the French would still certainly view all pre-Oct 2012 trailers as a big 'NON!' Perhaps by obtaining a certificate of conformity first for the individual machine and having a meeting with the DREAL you could confirm whether it could be a goer or not but by then the machine may well havebeen sold. Transports routiers - DREAL Bretagne Or buying a chipper and mounting it on a French trailer as many companies used to do. Some really odd looking machines as a result out there. Ty
  9. Our stable has a new horse, 34 horse in fact. To get us through an intense period of work we've brought in a G.M 150 for the week. I didn't get a lookin on the machine today as I was with the Quadchip elsewhere but tomorrow it will be with my team at 'The Chateau' where it will be making a fine wood chip from cypress for a biomass boiler as well as wood chip from branch wood only (no leaf) for selling as garden mulch. Ty
  10. Saturday mornings at our yard I or my collegue load people with their trailers and then make local deliveries. Then during the week, I have a list of clients on a waiting list from LeBonCoin for chip which gets delivered straight from the job. This is another reason why we run a tipper and a trailer. On our current job, wood from 24 large cypress gets chipped into the trailer whilst the green goes into the truck. Lovely golden clean wood chip, just what people want. 8m3 trailer of chip is 160euros (cash) plus delivery at 1 euro per km and it's loaded automatically by the chipper to boot! Woodchip mulch is a big thing here and I am the sole supplier advertising regularly in our area. It's working for me! Ty
  11. I sell the best chip via word of mouth and this web site here: Paillage, BRF et Copeaux de Bois Jardinage Ille-et-Vilaine - leboncoin.fr but I do give the conifer away to a local farmer for bio-mass and bedding. I only pay to tip if along way from home and no takers via the web sites. Ty
  12. Where as I sell my chips for 20euros m3 AND charge 1euro per km delivery... Ty
  13. What we need is a 'Transformer'... Ty
  14. We run a 3.5t tipper (4m3 over weight) plus Navarra+Ifor tipper good for 8m3 (legal) Very efficient setup. Ty
  15. I fitted an hour counter 'tiny tach' to our CS100. 25hours average for a blade change. Blades done by a pro outfit never on a bench with grinder. Biggest issue was removing the bolts. Ty
  16. Puncture proof tyres too... Ty
  17. I think on a 4012 you adjust the jackshaft. Ty
  18. Cheers for that link! Ty
  19. I've just measured mine in the hope of finding a better deal from a large belt supplier. If I am successful I'll post in here. Ty
  20. Does your wife agree with that last statement...? Ty
  21. If the trees are marked on a 'plan cadastre' as a wooded area or a talus/hedgerow then 'defrichage' clear felling of large native hardwoods requires permission in the form of a 'declaration preable' This is rare. I've had a handfull in all my years here. Also, some trees may be shared ownership, this is another issue all together. Just be 100% certain that any trees on the limit of the property ARE indeed your clients. This crops up often. Bon chance and enjoy your working holiday full in the knowledge your not paying company tax at 30% French social charges of 50% plus income tax on whatever is left...BLEH! Ty
  22. Front panel, 2012 model with 816hrs I'm losing faith... Ty
  23. Cheers lads:thumbup1: Overdue (as we don't seem to be getting many quiet periods) is the made to measure tarp for the top. Truck is getting the same treatment. Ty
  24. Images as requested. Ty
  25. It looks factory finish and took an easy 2hrs to cut off and rivet on the sheet. I see little reason to make more of a meal than necessary. You also need to learn to distinguish between profit and turnover... Ty
