  1. Surely you know nothings for nothing in this world Mr Ed....
  2. Cow hitch, timber hitch and even a girth hitch are all ok for this application....the obvious strength loss associated with a girth hitch is worth knowing. Strictly , there is no need to tie a stopper knot with either....if you think the knot will fail, dont use it. When using the loopie / whoopie for this , remember to use the braided/spliced part of the knot as the girth hitch.....
  3. As always mate..try B4 U buy...
  4. A group of seemingly intelligent people ... obviously !!
  5. I dont know if I'm horrified or just gob smacked....I know that I wouldnt be trying that at home tho'...nice find!
  6. Armillaria spp is an aggressive and successful fungus. It does not require an infection court to gain access to the root system of woody plants...this contributes to its success IMO. Thanx 4 the post treediver!
  7. It has been suggested that alternating your cord/braid may help. I have posted links on this forum re: cord strength test analysis...It has been suggested that it will weaken the friction cord to "break the back " figuratively speaking ( reversing...get it? )But this is rope type specific and you need to read it up!! For the record I prefer 8mm...
  8. All the more reason to make it your business to understand the practice both as the end user and /or an inspector surely?
  9. As far as I am aware, the testing that is/has been used/trialled in this country to date ( and I exclude alcohol testing ) is both expensive and just a little bit everso woolly!!
  10. I am not with you man but I have got issues with moderators....its just an excuse to wield what little power they figure they have sometimes...IMO
  11. Shouldnt really need to as MattyF points out his insurers wont allow him to stick his neck out and take his opinion seriously.A decision he no longer is ablt to make. As to the question of endorsing a system that fails to deliver, again a decision he cannot take apparently. It all seems to endorse a system that fails to be cohesive and so the mechanisms are uninformed ..or flawed.
  12. That sucks!!!
  13. I have stump treated a good deal although it has been sometime since the last application ( 4-5 yrs ) Most all the treating was on or near a watercourse. As far as the conservation organisations are concerned, glyphosate seeems to be the poison of choice. I hope this helps. I am not aware of the level of meddling that you refer to in your comments...sorry. B y meddling I mean beaurocracy!!
  14. Yeah well...if it is a matter of safety then the system ( qtra or worse threat ) probably will do little to inform the situation ( did you say panicked...mmmm...) but as to the possible issue of covering your arse then this may help. " why use a flawed system..?..." If by not doing so thwarts the implementation of a flawed system then all well and good. If you end up the culpable mouthpeice by default you might feel a tad peed off....just a thought!
  15. I dont want to get your hopes up winger...I think alot of what is said in the posts makes good sense and sound advice. There are no guarantees in life. However, I might disagree a little with others in that I know an operator in norfolk whos work consists entirely of grinding. Having said that, he has eeked out a niche market . You must research your market ahead of time I guess.
  16. Hey Nick and welcome......there is a thread started recently by winger. Perhaps you can offer an insight vis a vis his plight>>? called.... stump grinding ....
  17. I hate nationalism...its divisive nonsense. In fact I hate all faction oriented ideals. I am English from Irish descent and proud of it. You must learn to ignore those seeking to get a rise out of you cos you show a flag. But hey...I hate football too....!
  18. Damn its hard not to be thoroughly unimpressed by the industry as a whole when you see that s**t...I know I am being emotive but it is in a state of total disarray. Absolute B****X:cussing: Oh, and that climber wants a kick in the crotch aswell IMO...what an arse!
  19. ....cool...!
  20. Quote...less lurchiness...quote... I think it might be a breed of dog???!
  21. There appears to be some credible concerns tho' vis a vis the IPAF tickets...A veritable minefield of hair splitting grey areas revolving around which mewp blah blah blah...but this just the old mewp thing goin' round and round I guess!!
  22. I dont imagine this will be too popular a comment but I cant help thinking that you would have to be in employ of a LA to consider spending on this ticket assuming you already hold 39.... Oh bvut good for U JH
  23. Actually...whatever...>>>!! You only need to check the Stretch Air website and you'll see that the waist sizes are all compared to the s,m l classifications. I read that and found it misleading. Indeed a 32 will be small in stretch air world!!
  24. Hey...jus cos' yu' paranoid...dont mean they not out to git ya'!!!!
