  1. Shocking innit. It only takes the wrong type of grease on the sliders and in no time, you are back to square one..seized:biggrin:
  2. Get a service kit for caliper...( do not emery the piston walls)free off the "sliders" as posted above...or BUY A NEW CALIPER.....they're not that pricey ! A second hand caliper is a world of pain ..
  3. Nice one David...these are much better images , I was gonna say "we can see whats going on now" In a way of course we can...but a mechanical explanation of the last two has me wondering for the moment. Mmm. Good posts.....cheers.
  4. Here we go again....!
  5. Superb photos. How quintessentially "English" an image that is!
  6. Just to back up here a second...I have always thought that the boletes have quite strong species associations ( excuse the generalisation). Tree species can be one way to help pin down an ID was the point...hope it helps.
  7. And these gratuitous shots from the banks of the river running through Prague to the north sea eventually......( sorry, just thought the groundworks around the bases were of some interest at the time.... )
  8. This tree I found in a public playground. actually, a pay to enter children's "Dinosaur" Park....Im guessing occupation is reasonably high ( whatrever that means ...! ) but anyway, liability would be rather obviously actioned in the event of a failure and injury...! There were some great trees on this site too...
  9. Very simply made and as a tool to measure directly comparative values on a site, one way to evidence improvements to soil density and so porosity. I made this point to a consultant @ mattheck seminar but as he looked at me rather blankly, I suspect he failed entirely to understand the limitations Once you get that, its useful. As a matter of management procedures, it would make sense to keep records of measurements gained and so be able to expand the horizons of its usefulness too....
  10. It was a great comp'.....Well done Jon Turnbull. I have to admit, I thought Bernd would win but what do I know! Nice one Mr Turnbull.
  11. Peach leaf curl...? Not uncommon.
  12. Miscellaneous Provisions Act ( 1986 I think)
  13. Yep.....!
  14. Coalition's plans for trees gain cautious welcome from industry | Arboriculture News | Horticulture Week Yeah right; and pigs might fly! Politicians never say what they mean- and never mean what they say......
  15. Really...it looks pretty bad man! "any ideas. im still tempted by hamadryads 1st idea i think about reducing the 3 close to the house and shaping remainder. the drag out from this tree is horrible, steps, tight turns and through a garage" As soon as clap eyes on the pic top left, even given the fisheye lens etc etc...Why oh why did these property owners think it was ok to build a conservatory under this tree? Perhaps a more pertinent question is, why did the conservatory fitters think it was a good idea? Was there money involved...? I could be wrong but as a tree care professional, you really should ought to advise these clients to get it removed imo. Tell 'em to get a few quotes ( as you do ) And bang in a nice big number if they ask, enough to cover the hassle seems perfectly reasonable.....
  16. This seminar was very poor indeed. Words fail me! Tim
  17. For some reason I have it down as the date RECEIVED. In writing tends to suggest NOT EMAIL as this is not strictly written. I am sure some authorities are happy to work by email.(Personally would take the view that it is a more reliable/accountable system) I suppose its always possible to get a "received" notification when using e-mail. In fact, would recommend it. The only other thing I can think is that it is a notification (s211) It does not require a confirmation by return. This is applicable only if work is not approved for some reason -
  18. Aye...managed a few beers along the way:thumbup1: The creatures are not too impressed by the alcohol.I could be wrong but Im not!! Cheers mate:001_smile:
  19. Ha ha..kinda made my day...again! I arrives chez mateys ( whose bees it was that swarmed and ended up in my backyard as per earlier post). Bad timing. I just wanna head to the pub for food and beer, it being sunday...as you do! Getting my arm twisted, I agree to stop for a quick glass of wine. Whilst so doing, I comment that his bees ( the hive is on a flat roof in urban situation) seem a bit active..since the new hive at mine is pleasantly chilled out. OOpppssss:blushing: Ten minutes later and we have another swarm on our hands.... Ah well..to cut a long story short, we have managed to install all the swarm to the newly located hive in my backyard- doubling its size. Quick sharp add another supa, doubling the capacity, we are good to go. Poor neighbours . Actually I was a bit worried there as they really didnt seem to know what they wanted to do ( the bees ) and were swarming for some extended time. I have no experience with bees and the other "apiarist" makes a sharp exit claiming liquid refreshment is crucial and anyway, he's had enough of these damn insects. Its all good- I didnt know/dont know what Im doing with these things. They are so cool. When they wanna be. And quite aggressive when the mood takes them it seems. Happy days!
  20. Fine old mate....I am not certain if this is intended as some sort of dig but we aspire to live in a freeworld and the choices you make are, at least in theory, there to be sorted through so we can make a decision from freewill. No -one I think would criticise your choice and expect to be villified. I am not for a moment trying to suggest you "look the fool". However, the constant self-deprecation is not as effective as you may think. Is it some sort of backhanded criticism aimed at those of us who for some reason disappoint you because we fail to engage with you in the way you might prefer? No man, think about it. You said "I honestly think, you are trying to overcomplicate what is to me, (and I am dumb) a simple matter." This to me suggests that you are not infact engaging in any debate or discussion. Default setting- " everyone hates Hama...!" BORING..... Sean has posted whilst I wrote that...I havent read the comments .
  21. Not much anyone can say to that is there...!
  22. Mmm...consider the modifications that are present in reacti0n wood structure....On a cellular level, the design matrix within walls so named S1,S2 & S3 (Schwarze, Engels, Mattheck) This helical model is employed there. Presumably for strength..? edit.."helical model" was a bad term but I think does illustrate it adequately...?
  23. Jeez....Im not sure. Its all new to me. This hive was set up with frames, some of which still had honey. Extracted from the hive from which they originally swarmed. This helps them get started. At least they can feed following a swarm. If left to their own devices, this is unlikely to happen and I suppose they start from scratch. I am not a great honey eater. I do come across folk who claim they do not get as severe hayfever as a result of imbibing a local honey. Food for thought maybe!!
  24. They seem quite chilled out....Made my day:001_smile:
  25. Well it seems yesterday was a lucky day of sorts for me...I finally got a phonecall (only just manged to hear it over the music and other interruptions)- I needed to move a bit quick and the result was this installation in the backyard...Cool bannanas!
