  1. How long you got mate...?
  2. Its an interesting debate...well, it would be if it ever gets past the first page of "fell it" I have to say however that with merip. gano, a lean and property (residential) as a target; I would deffo get a more scientific assimilation of the tree's status. You cannot recommend the client do much else unless he does this 'cept fell it. And felling is as much a kneejerk reaction as you'd expect given this scenario. The bummer seems to me that without a more detailed assessment, you cannot but srr on the side of caution, and not that of the client ( arguably ) or tree care frankly! its the blind leading the blind! I hate to say it but a thermal camera would be very helpful here I feel!
  3. Interesting times...... Nottinghamshire and Buckinghamshire investigate country parks asset transfer | Arboriculture News | Horticulture Week Quote: "The public should be reassured that maintaining the quality of our services is paramount." One wonders whether it costs to monitor work thats contracted out....? Why they cant be more competitive in house I dont know. And then there's the whole issue of contractors buying work by underbidding only to find credit is in shorter supply than anticipated and oops. we've gone bust...Sorry about your parks folks ( and all the taxpayers dollar spent creating them in the first place....jeez!
  4. Shot 1 of the merip...very good. I guess that's fungi for you though eh!
  5. Bulgaria inquinans.....great composition!
  6. Ive heard the " does not bruise" thing before aswell.....
  7. Most amusing...you missed your vocation mate!
  8. Looks like a sallow...aka Goat Willow, or to give it the latin name...Salix caprea. Check the links and see what you reckon! The Woodland Trust | Willows | Goat willow or sallow Salix caprea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  9. Here are images of the same fruiting body at just over a week later....! They are a little underexposed Im afraid. I didnt want to adjust them for fear of losing all sense of reality vis a vis the coloured banding and such
  10. You will remember I posted these images earlier...
  11. As above. If, as is more likely than a full on roost or nursery, it is an outpost/dormitory for loan males, you are quite likely to find it very difficult to see much evidence of their residence. As Hama says, very early morning or dusk is the best time to spot them.

    Motogp

Oh...he's young! I think he is a good sort.He has shown promise, imo, for example, after Rossi binned it and he won the next GP out. Not mawkish, just about right! He has shown that he can deliver the goods. And in many ways,(currently on 235 points so far) it's a shame he is without Rosssi as this will never be forgotten and yet he is on course to score the most points in a season (Agostini, rossi...you name em.) Interesting.I had not seen J.L as "up himself"...suddenly felt compelled to speak up for him I guess. they're all freaks though...Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa ,Stoner.... i wonder what Casey will make of the Honda's....? ( if indeed that's where he ends up )
  13. @ Steve & Sean...appreciate the heads up and encouragement. Thanks for posting. Tim. Think on Tony.....Tech cert likely rated @ level 4 from 2011 onwards?
  14. Im pretty sure the road in question would be Highways but it could well come under FC as the rest of the wood is conifer plantation....Its extremely low usage. I think at just past the Roman Camp it will almost certainly be Felbrigg. Have a quick oggle at google maps on satellite view....?
  15. Just cos you mentioned it D, herewith images of a beech, roadside in Norfolk. Its pretty obvious to me that you would not park your porsche or picnic under it...... Tim.
  16. Go do a QTRA licence David. As a manager of personnel aswell as trees in the public domain, I dont doubt the sense of perspective the process will give you will inform your day to decisions. Not that I am in any way making or seeking to make a judgement about your day to day decisions.
  17. I have "allegedly" been given a place at Myerscough run online Tech Cert Arb. I am waiting to receive the paperwork. Its about a grand with exams...I found their website unable to allow simple PDF downloads and members of staff absent ( permanantly) all of which makes it difficult for the college to deliver aswell as for me (personally) to feel much confidence. hey hoe.... It starts in september. There are other options (Treelife) but its only a tech Cert and I thought I would save myself alot of travelling and some dough into the bargain. It may yet backfire on me! Hope it helps!
  18. Mmmm.....Levels dont look too out of the expected tbh. Compaction may well be the issue, giving rise as you know to the stress required for AOD to get a hold and further compound the stress status...No point in mulch unless you are able to alleviate compaction I might venture to summise. Looks as though there has been foundation work within the (obsolete ?) RPA The first thing I thought on looking at these images Sean was..." Move that dolls house thing away from under the canopy ..." Otherwise David has suggested a couple of options. Its always good to have options eh!
  19. And the obvious implication is that the T.O feels they are of significant amenity value and this is what the LA is charged with protecting through this legislation. Appealing the order is your way as tree owner of asking an arbiter to assess the land charge and reverse bad decisions. If you pop your head up and say at appeal.." I just wanted to take them down!!" you will likely be ruled against. ( I guess )
  20. You're a good sport!-and yes, its not a typical host! I was thinking dual decay....
  21. The TPO needs confirmed and due process is mandated observed. Its not strictly illegal although many may feel it is not within the spirit of the TPO legislation. Personally, I would appeal it if you think its wrong!
  22. Again indeed! I was interested to note that the annual bracket seemed to persist in the shots you put up Tony. Not that I doubt ( wouldnt dare! ) your id skills. I would not have expected the bracket to last situated at the base tho' eh, and was summising on a different culprit. Good find. "So, fungi peeps, am I being a bit fick and not able to recogonnise something really common? "- Apparently....Ha ha !
  23. Mmmm...seems to me we gonna end up in a pickle. (Oh, we already are...) Personal finance aside for a moment, how can successive govts sign legally binding agreements and then dismantle anything & everything that plays it's part in these agreements in the name of "economy drive"? We will end up seeing all that hard work and dosh invested going to rack & ruin only to be asked to spew out £x dollar in fines for failing to meet EU directives.... I wish it were a "once in a lifetime" but I already had to witness two recessions at the hands of yo-yo politics and I am utterly gobsmacked that my neighbours, your neighbours, voted this govt in. I gotta go have a lie down in a dark room!
  24. Thanks Steve.... -)
  25. Can anyone identify this plant for me? I have been told ( quite possibly unreliably) that it was brought here (UK) by the Romans. It was used as a food stuff. I can tell you it was as woodland ( probably edge/ride/path) and mixed, mostly deciduous. Thanx for looking!
