  1. I know exactly what you mean, except now the neighbours want there Trees "done" like that!
  2. Theres a lack of work in every industry, so I think anyones foolish to sit on a high horse about this type of work, if thats what the customer wants and you have advised against but they insist what can you do? lets face it we all need to eat, plus as a bonus perhaps youll get paid twice! Sitting on moral high ground when work is thin does not feed the kids.
  3. Thanks ill give him a ring and see if he can help. Cheers also to Dave ill try the locksmith option in the morning, about the only tradesperson I dont know, sods law!
  4. Earlier today my only key to remove the trailer from ball hitch fell to pieces, it is the only way to remove the trailer from its ball hitch. The company have quoted me £17 and 2 weeks to get a replacement and only other help they could offer is to drill the lock out and replace completely, this seems ridiculous, I know im the fool without a spare (lost within first week of ownership) but unless im going to totally destroy the locking mechanism there doesnt appear to be any other way, any ideas?
  5. Lake District / Cumbria

    Sad News

Condolences to the poor guys family. This seems to be an all to common occurance at the moment BE CAREFULL its all to easy to become complacent, one little slip with a saw and its all over.
  8. These guys will put you onto a good trainer in the lakes or may know of someone nearer to you. The Sick and the Wrong - paragliding and snowboard specialists, Keswick. Telephone: 017687 80297 ask for Steve or John or Air Ventures Paragliding - Keswick ask for Gordie (Trainer)
  9. High scale, sorry to burst your bubble, but this is known as a 419 scam, they can run into loads of emails pretending to be a bona fida eastern european hotty with increasingly more explicit pics and emails telling of her undying love for you! but heres the crunch eventually she will ask for money for her visa/airfare or towards her parents who are at the mercy of the local heavies, unfortunately if it seems to good to be true it probably is. If you continue to email be aware, dont send any personal details or your address etc it mat be genuine but i doubt it. Ask for some naked photos before you tell her to sling her hook. P.s her! name is probably boris and has a lovely hairy beard! In all seriousness be carefull a lot of people are scammed in this manner , some send out 50+ emails before the scammer asks for money.
  10. If your desparate im willing to travel up with my groundie for the day on thurs, we are in north Cumbria but im ok to travel if the price is right, 2 of us both fully qualified and insured all PPE and own saws etc, but ill need to know asap before I book my own work in. Regards Paul

  12. First time ive ever had to resort to flipping flap! today but its been -4 all day, Saw running very poorly until flipped then ran ok, but only 361 required attention 020 ran fine all day!
  13. Looking for a radio to use between climber and groundie/ crane op when out of site or saw running, needs to be able to used with ear protection on, know the forces has some that work from placing on the throat anybody got experience in using them? Thanks
  14. Both the police and the mountain rescue told the organisers it was inadvisable to run this event, yet they went ahead in some horendous conditions putting numerous lives at risk, some of my freinds are in the Mountain rescue and were involved in the rescue putting ther own lives on the line for others. There was no reason to not postpone until the weather was better. In my opinion a foolish move by the organisers, But its your own choice to take part in things like this so if it goes pear shaped and youve been warned then you should be accountable for any costs involved in your rescue. I live and work in these Mountains respect is due.

  17. I live in the LAKE DISTRICT its called that for a reason, only 2 seasons here, Wet and not quite as wet, so work regardless although do tend towards the easier jobs on really poor days.(Or stay in bed and the Kids go hungry!) As the old saying goes "It cant go past your skin boy"
  18. Haix for me, onto my fourth pair and just about to pick another pair up today, seem to last about a year or so of hard graft. The most comfortable boot ive ever worn.
  19. Im running General grabber AT2s good on and off road on D40 on last Navara D22 had Goodrich all terrains also very good, But still been stuck up to axles in both vehicles! If wet and boggy you need a Tractor tread.
  20. Also had a wet week up here, only to be toppped with an Emergency job today in the wind and rain wet thru within seconds of arriving on job and blocking a footpath so having to tell insistant ramblers to go away! in shortened terms after they had ignored the hazard tape blocking the path and signs, still its over now and im home safe and dry, plus emergency work = emergency money!! What do you all charge per hour for this sort of work?
