  1. All over roots of an Ash and in neigbours garden, who dont like the Tree anyway so are expressing concern, most about thumb size with thin white stem.
  2. Thirlmere from Grasmere 'that' hump too fast. Not known for its tollerance to speeding bikers! I Know exactly what you mean, a mate of mine had a similar moment following us took up smoking as soon as we stopped, and the inevitable underwear change. Was soon after that yours truly parked a Gsxr 1000K5 into the back of a car, walked away luckily but the bike didnt! So i bought a more sensible option........ZX10R!
  3. Some of the best roads ive ever Ridden, magnificent scenery, lack of law enforcment (not that I condone speeding) magnificent bends and a nice grippy surface. 1.A87 Kyle to Commando memorial 2.A831 Drumnadrochit to Cannich (Caledonian Forest towards Loch Affric, a must see) 3.A591 Keswick to Grasmere (pre land Rape) 4.A591 Keswick to Bothel (My home run) Any one got any others?

    North west

Woops didnt read where you hail from! not being patronising. I did a World tour of Scotland on Bikes (with motors) a couple of years back, round the coast up North but extreme rain meant We didnt stop for much from Tongue to Ullapool, lovely scenery though. Ill be back for another look soon, probably the best roads ive ever ridden in fact definately, time for another thread.

    North west

I would visit Applecross via the pass of the cattle, awesome. Rubha reidh lighthouse can be stayed at! Anywhere on the west coast is fantastic, beware the tourist coaches on single track roads at this time of year, and the deadly Scottish midges. Plus it will rain be prepared. Enjoy your jollies.
  6. Ive just done the same as you, not ridden for 10 yrs then wanted a newer bike than my old shed, technology has really advanced and the choice is endless, id suggest a hardtail (Cove stiffee frame is my choice) look on fleabay for the best prices (I paid £180 delivered) then build up with the spec you can afford. I found that the components on bikes around the £500 mark arnt brilliant but are a lot better than a 10 yr old shed, Happy riding. Im loving it, new bike always enthuses you to ride loads.

    Tree Crime

Sorry the photos a bit wonky, so angry about so called Tree work in an area where you need permission to change your hat! Didnt see gazzette article unfortunately but can imagine, So many years to grow but only minutes to mutilate. I know not all customers will listen to our advice but most of the time they can be persuaded, ie much higher price for mutilation and a reasonable price for the best job, im no martyr but even with kids/mrs and pets to feed dont do Tree crime, even my 11 yr old daughter knows what is correct pruning and reduction!

    Tree Crime

Ive passed this mutilated Oak and two more of its sisters( in a similar condition) roadside in the north lakes and stopped for a pic, this area is under the jurasdiction of the Lake District Special Planning Board! and owned by some very very rich local Hoteliers who obviously go for a price over proffesional conduct, I have in recent times offered my services to these people but been refused a look in as they have there own tree people! who work from a digger bucket uninsured and unqualified. They run round in 70k vehicles (are all new Range Rover drivers W*****s) and can not afford to hire me or others to look after some wonderfull trees here in the Lakes, if thats what being rich makes you ill remain poor (definately in this trade!)
  9. I agree with Edenarb, if we can help each other then we should. As a small Industry if we band together then we can all progress our business sucsesfuuly without too much effect from this economic shenanigans, there are all to many fly by nights willing to work for peanuts, an honest days work for an honest days pay. Ill be willing to pool skills with others in my area (Lakes and north Cumbria) if I can be of assistance to anybody. Perhaps a members only list of shared resources might be of help.
  10. Yes, Id like to win something.

  13. At croft last year, Digby chillin, Digby asking why i took his pic and the reason i go to work. (Having trouble with motivation when i wake and hear the rain again)
  14. My australian cattle dog Digby been coming in the truck since the day he came into our lives, very loyal to me and the kids. No saws ever gone missing when he is on duty.
  15. Certainly is, Digby(4yr old dog) is the 2IC, the boss is making my Tea! As for the Bikes the K5 was the most fun til i killed it, been replaces with a ZX10r as there far more sensible!!!

  20. Try this, look at all weather forecasts available for your area, internet / radio / tv etc find one thats good and stick with that, doesnt work but makes you and the lads feel better, (only problem is you look a right twit when its snowing / gale force winds when you said " looks like a nice day " )
