  1. You'll probley end up with crushed balls too.
  2. I tryed the fishermans but wasnt keen on it after the knot came undone when i was climbing, it ws that quick i never knew what happened until i hit the floor. i know alot of climbers that use it too that have no problems with it, was tought the bowline and thats what i use now.
  3. im just suprised at what the tutor said about everyone tutor should be teaching you to climb this way, like you said Jim, if you had him to asses you, or me, it would of been a straight fail.
  4. I thought that, i would love one but to be honest think it'd be a bit unfair, since dont think i'd be able to walk it.
  5. Real nice dog. How often do you havet to walk the husky?
  6. Go for it, suprised how much fun i had. i did think at one point there was going to be an argument, since i was pushing her to keep going. ha. I tryed to get her to let go of the rope but she wouldnt have it, she did well since she doesnt like heights. Ha
  7. I've known climbers use both ends of their ropes for years, never heard of this happening. Is this a hypothetical scenario, or is it recorded for causing accidents? I've known climbers too, that climb this way. It may have been a hypothetical, because he didnt mention any stats. I just think its a bit much having all those ropes flapping around with you waiting to get tangled in surley thats a risk in itself.
  8. Ha, yer i know, good job its out of focus, lens would smashed
  9. Some More. Was good fun. Guess who took the last one!!!!!! Nicely in focus
  10. Charl decided she wanted to something fun today, so took her climbing. She started freaking out half way up until i got up there then she was fine, considering she was scared of heights. Anyone else managed to get girlfriend / wife climbing?
  11. Thats what he was saying, not to use the other end of your rope, because of the loop you form underneath. Quote " if a lump got cought in the loop it would rip you out of the tree. Im not going to take up two bloody rope to get tangled in, if i cant get to something i will because my lanyard not long enough i'll use the other end of my rope. The only reason i could justify another rope is of the tree is dangerous. Just opinion though.
  12. I have been doing my Ua1 coarse, whilst doing it we got onto talking about climbing and aerial rescue, the way i was tought was to get a high anchor, blah blah blah. using either ALT or throw line, big shot, whatever, i was also tought to use the other end of my climbing line, but found out that they shouldnt be teaching people this technique anymore and and you should always be secured by 2 different anchor points at all time as well as your lanyard. So that would be 2 ropes you would be climbing on, as well as your lanyard, plus if you had a rescue line up there with you (which everyone should have ) and also if you were rigging you'd have that with you too. So in total that 4 ropes you'd have excluding your lanyard. Does anyone else think this is a bit OTT? First i heard of this. Hope it makes sence.
  13. I cut and hold with a silky, on accasion but not with chainsaw, think it too risky, one slip and its game over. You could leave a thick enough hinge so it would hold then break it off. Thats just my opinion.
  14. why not get your training, sub contract to a local firm whilst keeping your own work going, and as you get experience, incorparate, tree work with your gardening. Just an idea. Good luck.
  15. Me and my wife went to years ago, stayed with her uncle over there in Brisbane. Absolutly loved it over there, people are so much nicer over there, weathers great, bit too hot most times for me though. Get uploading Ed.
  16. Why the hell did you move back to Britain Ed.? Some good photos there, got anymore?
  17. That sorta stuff does have side effects mate. You wanna watch it.
  18. Just buy a bike, that works most of your muscles. And keeps you fit, and its fun.
  19. No notch = No direction.
  20. Your time will come, Ed
