  1. Everyone has to learn, maybe this time the other guy will learn the hard way that he has underpriced it and next time you compete with him you will be more competitive.
  2. So what's causing it? Rollers not closing? hydraulic probs?
  3. The hitch was locked, but thats all.
  4. Sadly its gone. Forget about it. We had a trailer taken from Stirling last week too, the guys were working 50 yards away but out of sight......
  5. Was it taken from old craighall? I saw someone working with a jensen in there last week.
  6. We just sheared a stub axle on our 1928 on a pothole, at low speed too. I think the problem with most single axle chippers is that they use axles that are only rated a little over the weight of the chipper. Whereas on a trailer the axles are rated to over the maximum load, yet that load will only occasionally be achieved. On the chipper the weight is there all the time.....
  7. Nice video Steve, Why do you need two butt plugs? Was it really that scary?
  8. This was an awkward sod, took a lot more effort than you might think to get it to the bottom of the hill...
  9. If you want more work there's a great app for your phone to find clients who need their stump grinding. I have found loads of customers since I downloaded it. Grindr - Find gay, bi, curious guys for free near you with Grindr on the iPhone, Android and BlackBerry
  10. Whats the advantage of the two piece boom?
  11. Well done Steve, can't be many if any trees like that in the UK.
  12. The issue with shrinkable clay is that the ground swells once the trees have gone, the rotting of the roots is not the issue. When trees grow on shrinkable clay they suck up a lot of moisture which shrinks the clay. when the trees are gone the clay re-hydrates and expands.
  13. Looks like alder to me too..
  14. I have a client for whom we took down a large fir, we left a 4 m monolith which she has now decided that she would like carved. Would anyone interested in this job please PM me and I will pass on the clients details. Cheers Tom
  15. This is an interesting site, really good statistical analysis seat by seat... Electoral Calculus
  16. You just did it again!
  17. Check the coil, and the gap.
  18. Loads of the 1%ers are philanthropists who spend millions on good causes. They are no different from the rest of us, some of them are nasty bastards and others are good guys.. Just like tree surgeons.
  19. There's caring about others and then there's being over protective and allowing them to live an entire lifetime under the wing of the state. This needs to change.
  20. Great, How do we do it?
  21. This is the point I was making earlier Lee. Who are the rich? some will do well in the recession, but many did not. My point is we are better having them than not having them. If I made £30k a year and the guy up the road made £30million, then 2 years later I make £35k and he makes £35 million, the gap between us is now £4,995,000 higher than before, but am I poorer as a result? No! i'm £5k richer!
  22. Nonsense, many of the guys working on piece rate picking fruit make way more than most of the groundies on here. Well over £100 a day for many if they are fast enough.. Hardly exploitative.
  23. Read that before, thing is thats not actually looking at trickle down, its a miss use of statistics. Its simply a relative wealth comparison between the mega rich and the rest of us, and on that scale the rich are getting richer faster than we are. Its like saying that its a statistical fact they banana imports have caused more crime, since as banana imports rose in the years after the war so did the crime rate. So its a statistical fact right? The two things are obviously unrelated yet the stats can be made to show otherwise. Its the same thing here. The rich are getting richer, but not off the backs of the poor. Most of the mega rich make their money in ways that simply involve having money and making it grow in some way. Its not like the dark satanic mills anymore. Plus what that article doesn't address is the actual trickle down that definitely does occur. Like I said before, really think about the life of a mega rich man, think of how he spends his time and what he does. At every step theres someone "normal" taking a slice of his wealth.. weather its the gamekeeper at the highland estate where he shoots a stag, or the chef at the hotel who cooked it for him. Or the craftsman who made the gun. Or the guy who fixes his jacuzzi. Or the florist who supplies the fresh flowers that he changes every other day. The guy who maintains the engine on his yacht. etc etc. The more you think about it the more things you can think of. We all benefit. Lets say a guy comes over from India like Lakshimi Mittal, he is incredibly rich and pays little tax here as he is Non Dom. But even if he spends 0.1% of his wealth here we are all still better for it than if he never came at all.
