  1. Bullseye have an alpine magnum... 0131 4415155
  2. Nice! We don't see much forestry stuff on here. looks like nice timber. Are you working for the utility co?
  3. Really tragic, and a lesson to us all. I have often told the story of how I felled a top onto someone on the ground as an amusing anecdote, reading this makes me realise how bad it could have been. (in my incident the guy was un harmed, He should have looked up. I should have looked down)
  4. For once GN we are in total agreement. You're right about federalism, lets get on with it, the huge SNP vote is not only a mandate for the SNP but its one for Cameron too. Many conservatives, such as John Major, have been arguing for fewer concessions to Scotland, but the size and scale of the SNP vote gives cameron the mandate to give us a full federal system. Here's hoping...
  5. I picked up on that from the Andrew Marr interview this morning too. However anything less than full autonomy will inevitably lead to further resentment south of the border. The plain fact is that for the SNP to deliver on their promises they will need more money than is currently raised in Scotland and unless they have the power to raise that money as they see fit the English will see english taxes being spent on Scottish social spending which will not go down well at all. It would appear that she wants to cherry pick the tax control that she wants and hang on to other aspects of the barnet formula, this will be politically unsustainable. Its either full fiscal autonomy or keep the status quo. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  6. Some unbelievable stuff coming out of the wood work here. There are some genetic differences between the races, but a blunt instrument like an IQ test is nowhere near sharp enough to pick them up. When it comes to the incidence of very high IQ's its true that one race stands out a little higher than all the others, but its not us whites, its the orientals. The australian aboriginals have a far more developed brain than we do when it comes to spacial mapping, as they need it to find their way around the featureless outback, puts london cabbies to shame. People in the far east of russia and mongolia will get pissed on much less alcohol than we do because they lack the enzyme which helps break down alcohol in the liver. There are loads of genetic differences among the human population, we would have died out years ago if there weren't, its what makes the human race so special and is something to be celebrated. If we were all the same the world would be a very dull place.
  7. Mine is one of those being recounted... Maybe it will make a difference, sounds like its very close!
  8. I wonder if I have just voted in my last general election? Could be holyrood only from now on...
  9. How do you know? This is where you are going wrong, Here's what to do, take a years worth of bank statements and a calculator, add up all your expenditure. Then you need to divide that number by the number of days that you work. There are 261 working days in the year, in reality you will probably work between 200 and 240. This will give you a rough break even day cost. You then need to add 30-40% to that for a small one man outfit in order to have the funds to replace equipment as it wears out and have a comfortable life.
  10. Whatever happens I suspect that this will be the end of the first past the post system. And possibly we will see the introduction of a proper english parliament. Should the tories win, areas like scotland and wales will again claim that they didn't get what they voted for, and should labour/SNP win english voters will feel like they are being run by a tiny minority. None of this will be good for the country and lead to yet more bitterness and resentment. Its sad really. The problem is, far more people will vote UKIP than vote SNP, yet the SNP may well get 50 seats and UKIP only 2 or 3. People will be really unhappy with this, justifiably I might add, large numbers will vote green and yet they too will end up with hardly anything. Its probably time to reform the voting system, probably to something like the AV Holyrood system, with constituency and list MP's. We also need to sort out the boundaries as currently some constituencies have way more voters in them than others...
  11. Would have loved to but its just more gardens over the wall, couldn't even get a crane near it, it was a good 40m from the road...
  12. Not much David, we did the 4 trees in 2 days.
  13. If the arbtalk poll results are reflected across the country then we are in for a serious lurch to the right! although, its true a vote for ukip is a vote for miliband.
  14. Would have been more fun if it wasn't pi55ing down.
  15. Been dismantling this nasty black pine, 12 phone lines through it! Tomorrow will be day 4! last one hopefully.
  16. Everyone has to learn, maybe this time the other guy will learn the hard way that he has underpriced it and next time you compete with him you will be more competitive.
  17. So what's causing it? Rollers not closing? hydraulic probs?
  18. The hitch was locked, but thats all.
  19. Sadly its gone. Forget about it. We had a trailer taken from Stirling last week too, the guys were working 50 yards away but out of sight......
  20. Was it taken from old craighall? I saw someone working with a jensen in there last week.
  21. We just sheared a stub axle on our 1928 on a pothole, at low speed too. I think the problem with most single axle chippers is that they use axles that are only rated a little over the weight of the chipper. Whereas on a trailer the axles are rated to over the maximum load, yet that load will only occasionally be achieved. On the chipper the weight is there all the time.....
  22. Nice video Steve, Why do you need two butt plugs? Was it really that scary?
  23. This was an awkward sod, took a lot more effort than you might think to get it to the bottom of the hill...
