  1. IMO, Yes it is. It's at a reasonable price from a cutter's point of view, you'll still neverget richfelling it but it's better than it was. All those that want it cheap always seem to be the ones who's yard is emptiest.............
  2. Not as windy today but probably wetter than yesterday. Been out underbrashing a stand of small hardwoods today - everything wet enough it's been hung in the shed til it stops dripping enough to bring it in to the house to try and dry it all out for the morning.
  3. Cool
  4. I'm not sure - my understanding of it was that SVA had been done away with and that only IVA existed now and they were making it very hard to comply to. Good if it's not needed it - things aren't as dire as some of the rivet counters on some landy forums make out
  5. Looks good, liking the toolbox too. How bad was it to get through the IVA?
  6. Don't know for sure but have heard from more than one person that it doesn't have the same lubricating properties as diesel so needs a small bit of extra oil mixing in with it. I've seen it run in a normal diesel engine and it seemed OK, just a bit smoky. EDIT: I'm too slow again
  7. Does that mean I'm going to have to have a shave and a haircut too Figure new boots can't hurt as much as my current ones are Wonder whose will arrive first - the race is on
  8. Use a 1999 model 066 a bit and that never seems to have the problem.
  9. That looks ace
  10. Sorted - Honey Bros had them sat on the shelf
  11. Just had call from the supplier saying they've not got the size I want in stock and that they just spoke with the importer who told them that the Tirol Fighter is being discontinued for the UK and they can't get hold of any more. More than a bit P'd off - why show something as available on their website if they don't actually have them sat there ready to go Also, it's funny how the money comes out of your account instantly but is going to tkae 2/3 days to come back
  12. Yep, rain and wind here - it eased off a bit briefly but still not good to be out in.
  13. As much as it should make sense for me to do logs at the moment, I don't. I used to sell firewood up until around 5 years ago - it was something to work in with quieter spells or bad weather and in the end also ran nicely around my employed work too. With the cost of wood going up at roadside, the cost of a load needed to go up to match but around us no one seemed to be doing, or not by enough to make up the shortfall so I decided not to bother. Around us, it's still far too cheap so I tend to concentrate of selling the raw material at roadside and that keeps me fairly busy and keeps the volume of customers and dodgy hours delivering to a minimum. Am quite lucky that if the weather's not great I can sometimes get to go and process wood for other people on their machines - nice and stress free
  14. That's a proper tractor - complete with family size cab Used to use one very similar as a skidder with full cab guarding and fixed double drum igland on the back. Bomb proof little things.
  15. We did look at that option too, but didn't manage to find anything sensible net wise that was seen to be green to burn (i.e not plastic)
  16. Can't help on where to get bits but do now they are/were available within the last few years as the guy who bought my old one did a full refurb on it. I never got on with mine, but it was fairly tired. The weak spot tended to be the measuring system, hit and miss at the best of times and then died completley and I never did manage to get it working again. Also, mine didn't have much in the way of feeding power, often had to help a bit with the crane if they were long or particularly hairy.
  17. Am going to have to go +1 too, SWMBO's blagged telly or X factor
  18. Was a abit of an arse nipper wasn't it From memory I think that old van was some russian 4x4 van called something that sounded like furgon. Did look a bit like an old round light transit though
  19. Just ordered a pair of the Tirol's, hopefully should be in some shiny new boots by the end of the week Do I need to use special stuff on them for waterproofing or will stuff for ordinary leather be OK? I've got some Mink Oil that works really well on normal leather.
  20. I managed to get hold of one bag of bits off the machine and they seem to dry out OK without going mouldy. Think it depends on what material goes through, but the bag I got had a lot of small slivers in amongst it. I really really think they could be a good tool for use in neglected woodlands but think the market for the end product is still fairly limited in the UK.
  21. That's a beast, Rob I made something similar but much smaller and found it's great for loading up with small diameter poles up to around 10ft long. Three fills of it fills the sankey trailer and from start ing loading the rack to having a full trailer i about 30min.
  22. Looks a nice one - a good all rounder tht's got plenty of ground clearance for if you want to go play in the woods too
  23. I've got the small Ali one - it fits behind the landy seats OK and boils enough to do 2 cups worth. So far been OK for what I wanted
