  1. Could you not stretch another £50/£60 or so and go for something like a 550 so ending up with a fully pro saw instead?
  2. We've spent the last few weeks doing similar but on the Yorkshire Wolds. Fair bit of it too steep to drive anything on so had lots of thorn rolling to do. Landowner came to help out on one site where it was less steep with their Loadall and was really surprised where it would travel but on the very last grabful of the day he did manage to pick a topside wheel up and looked fairly rattled once it came back down again
  3. There looked to have been a real light dusting of snow in Scarborough this morning and it had tried snowing a bit while I was there but nothing proper as yet. Fairly chilly though.
  4. It's not really doing owt in particular here - been mild and sunny with showers today. Hope snow stays away for a bit longer.
  5. Is anyone else having bother with the site taking a while to load each page? every other site seems to be as fast as usual which made me wonder if it's not just my computer being slow. Am on IE though if that makes any difference. Only been like it a day or so.
  6. Iveco daily would be worth a look. Used to drive a 140hp 5tonner that was down plated to 3.5t with a 3T trailer all over the UK and it never bothered it, even with the van up to weight as well. When empty and without the trailer it was fairly rapid too. the 170hp must have been a bit of a beast.
  7. Favourite saw I own is probably my 372. 550 is a very close second and nicer to use all day but the 372 makes me smile a bit more as it just rips Be so much easier if could choose a favourite saw for different jobs
  8. That might be why they never rang back to say it was back in Would be a shame if they don't have one like if for hire any more as some times nothing else will do Never seen a machine eat stumps like that did.
  9. Orangeplant sometimes have the 70hp tracked Carlton in at Tockwith for hire.
  10. Still trying to work out if that's a serious reply or not? Isn't that how forestry has worked since people started planting trees for profit? MAybe it's different round you but Hardwood thinnings seem to attract more cost standing than almost any other timber around us. To get a site in return for the timber usually means it's poor quality wood or an awkward site.
  11. I've got the 1pt ali Kelly kettle and one of the bigger ones too (don't know how big but think it could be 2 - 2.5pt) and only ever seem to use the smaller one. Fits nicely behind the cubby box in the 90 and does enough for two cups. The bigger kettle has the cook kit with it but I've never had chance to try it out. Not convinced it would be that much cop.
  12. Best LC I've encountered as a disco alternative to a work truck was the old HJ60 or 62. 4ltr, straight 6 normally aspirated. Would pull 3.5T all day long, really comfy and absolutely cavernous inside. Other than body corrosion (all the panels are available now - weren't when I had mine) the only thing that was a bit of a niggle was that firt was a bit low which made second feel a bit high at times. We once got a Honda 300 Big red in the back of it with the seats folded down. HAd to take the wheels off the quad but they still fitted in. Would regularly return over 30 mpg too. Really wish I'd kept it.
  13. I've had my 550 since they were first released early last year and so far it's been faultless.
  14. I don't know for sure but two gobs doesn't sound much use and isnt the coos bay for making a quick back cut by having less to get through - surely a conventional back cut is going to be the same amount of cutting whether one gob or two? We've used a twist on that cut in the picture for bringing down stems or smaller trees down slowly on the hinge by leaving the hinge triangular in that way and a wide faced gob. Works well on chewy imbers like Birch, Leylandii, Cypress etc and where the drop zone is fairly fragile (driveways, lawns etc).
  15. I was thinking similar
  16. Maybe once upon a time, but with all the benefits and easy credit, surely it'd not be an accurate set of results. Plus, money can't buy class
  17. Not around us it hasn't I'd agree with that I think. But what defines each step of the ladder? I personally don't aspire to any particular step
  18. Figured you'd be able to find out quicker than me
  19. Think this bloke was somewhere near exmoor - the pics I saw looked to be loads better than an off the shelf one. Twisty should know more about it than I
  20. Where was that place Will got one done for his 110 - looked proper heavy duty and think he's not a million miles from where Jon is?
  21. Can feel the food poisoning kicking in already I need a bike that works first
  22. I think it's going to vary a bit on where you try to sell it into. Round us I'd have thought it would sell fairly well as price seems to be the seller for most things as it's not a hugely wealthy area. Bif closer to York and there's more money but then people are more fussy too. I reckon the TR70 produce would be ace chiminea wood Just don't think I could shift enough to make it worth while. Really do like the concept though.
  23. Not made it yet - were meant to be going yesterday but now it's tomorrow.
  24. All being well that's where we're heading this summer
